Summary

The concept of "bending reality" is explored through six core ideas, emphasizing limitless nature, energy, synching with source, conscious manifesting, belief training, and altered/elevated states of consciousness.

Abstract

The article delves into the idea of "bending reality" by presenting six key concepts. It begins by mentioning Steve Jobs' use of the term and his belief in our limitless nature. It then discusses the notion that everything is energy and the malleability of reality. The third idea involves synching with source and understanding that reality is a reflection of our state of being. The fourth concept is conscious manifestation, which involves accelerating synchronicities and creating luck through spiritual faculties. The fifth idea is belief training, or learning to believe something before it can be seen or proven. The sixth and final concept is using altered and elevated states of consciousness to shift one's perspective and solve problems. The article concludes by explaining that to bend reality, one must change their energy, upgrade their thinking, and generate new emotions and behaviors.

Bullet points

  • Limitless nature: the belief that we all have the power to "put a dent in the universe"
  • Everything is energy: the idea that reality is malleable and can be shaped
  • Synching with source: understanding that reality is a reflection of our state of being
  • Conscious manifestation: creating synchronicities and "luck" through spiritual faculties
  • Belief training: learning to believe something before it can be seen or proven
  • Altered and elevated states of consciousness: using practices such as meditation, breathwork, and plant medicine to shift perspective and solve problems
  • Changing energy: upgrading thinking, generating new emotions, and behaving in new ways to bend reality.

I’m obsessed with the concept of “bending reality.” After going down the rabbit hole on this topic for the past several years, I distilled its meaning into 6 core ideas.

1. Limitless Nature

The concept of bending reality first entered the mainstream in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs in which he used it three times to describe why Jobs was so successful.

For Jobs that simply meant tapping into his limitless nature and realizing that the rules of “reality” didn’t apply to him. Jobs believed we all have this power and are all here “to put a dent in the universe.”

2. Everything Is Energy

Bending reality is also referenced in quantum physics — taking root in the notion that everything in physical reality is energy. This includes every inch of who we are, everything down to the very molecules that comprise our cells is made of energy.

And since energy is malleable, so is the fabric of what we call “reality.”

3. Synching With Source

Continuing with more from quantum physics: At its core, bending reality is creating a synchronization from source in which you are drawing experiences to you through a coherent synching of your energy and some potential in the quantum field.

In other words, “reality” is your perception; a reflection of your state of being: how you think, feel, and act.

4. Conscious Manifesting

Bending Reality is the art of conscious manifestation. It’s the ability to accelerate synchronicities, create ‘luck’ in the world, and bring your desires into physical reality.

However, this is not done by manipulating the physical world or hard work, but through the use of spiritual faculties.

5. Belief Training

Bending reality is ”belief training” — learning to believe something before it can be seen or proven. It’s elevating what you believe is possible for you — realizing that what you want is out there, and it wants you too and that you have the power to bring it into your life.

The Persian mystic poet Rumi once wrote: “What you seek is seeking you.”

When you bend reality you are upgrading human possibility. It becomes the end result of believing something new about yourself.

6. Altered and Elevated States of Consciousness

Bending reality is also training your consciousness to go higher. It’s the deliberate practice of using your mind, emotions, and physiology to shift the way you see and operate in the world and find solutions to problems.

It’s the act of turning problems into projects through the combined use of human physiology, mental power, and spiritual faculties.

Examples of such practices include: certain styles of meditation, breathwork, lucid dreaming, sex, ice baths, saunas, and plant medicine.

So how do we bend reality?

We simply change our energy:

  • We upgrade our thinking and belief systems.
  • In turn, this generates new emotions in our bodies which cause us to behave and act in new ways.
  • As a result, this changes who we are on a molecular, neuropsychological level.

Parting Words

“Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it. You can build your own things.” — Steve Jobs

“Everything changes when you start to emit your own frequency rather than absorbing the frequencies around you, when you start imprinting your intent on the universe rather than receiving an imprint from existence.” — Barbara Marciniak
