500,000 Souls

“500,000 Souls,” © 2021 Jeff Gates and the Chamomile Tea Party

Over half a million people have died of COVID. Many of these deaths could have been prevented if Donald Trump had had a plan to combat the pandemic, had advocated for wearing masks and social distancing, and had stopped politicizing the virus. If these deaths had occurred in one geographical area, entire cities and about 70% of any Congressional district would have been completely wiped out. Every single person dead. Here’s a list of Republican legislators, who have put politics ahead of science, and have disregarded the well-being of their own constituents.

Missouri Senators Josh Hawley and Roy Blunt: Kansas City 495,327, St. Louis, 300,576; Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, Governor Ron DeSantis: Miami 467,963, Tampa 399,700, Orlando 287,442, St. Petersburg 265,351, Tallahassee 194,500; Louisiana Senator John Kennedy: New Orleans 390,144, Baton Rouge 220,236, Shreveport 187,112; Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer: Omaha 478,192, Lincoln 289,102; North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis: Raleigh 474,069, Durham 278,993, Winston-Salem 247,945; Oklahoma Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford: Tulsa 401,190; Ohio Senator Ron Portman, Congressman Jim Jordan: Ohio 4th Congressional District 712,261, Cleveland 381,009, Cincinnati 303,940, Toledo 272,779, Akron 197,597; Utah Senator Mike Lee: Salt Lake City 200,567; Kentucky Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul: Lexington 323,152; Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green: Georgia 14th Congressional District 732,133, Atlanta 506,811, Macon 153,159; Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst: Des Moines 214,237; Alabama Senators Richard Shelby and Tommy Tuberville: Birmingham 209,403, Huntsville 200,574, Montgomery 198,525, Mobile 188,720; Arkansas Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton: Little Rock 197,597; Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson: Madison 259,680; Tennessee Senators Marcia Blackburn and Bill Hagerty: Knoxville 187,603, Chattanooga 182,799; South Dakota Senators Mike Rounds and John Tunn, Governor Kristi Noem: Sioux Falls 183,793; Mississippi Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith and John Wicker: Jackson 160,628; Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch: Boise 228,959; Texas Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton, Congressman Louie Gohmert: Texas 1st Congressional District 726,094, Arlington 398,854, Corpus Christi 326,586, Plano 287,677, Laredo 262,491, Lubbock 258,862, Corpus Christi 326,586, Amarillo 199,371.
