Why not?

Oh won’t you please clap a 50?

It is really kinda nifty

when you go from a “view” to a “read”

to do this good deed,

helps a writer feel like such an “uplift-ee.”

Claps have been debased by others who shall remain nameless. While it is true that claps don’t fall to our dollar bottom line, they do provide value.

Writers dig the recognition, so the more claps the better (perhaps remembering school days, and realizing that anything less than 60% or 30 claps is a failing grade, provides a helpful perspective). Also, other potential readers notice high clap totals and may gravitate toward stories others have found intensely appealing.

BTW — holding the left mouse button down and generating 50 claps takes 6.7 seconds, and is a great strength-training exercise 😅. Plus you’ll be in the moment for a moment.
