6 Wise Lessons Cats Can Teach You About Healthy Lifestyle
Cats should earn the status “the lifestyle guru” because they know how to live a balanced life. For cats lovers!

I love the sound of cats eating. I used to cat-sit for my neighbors, and whenever I was feeding them, I would sit down next to them quietly and just observe their delicate lip-smacking, and the granules crunching as they thrill and purr.
It was a soothing melody to my ears and a healing balm for my nerves. Seriously, they should market this audio sound of cats eating, which I believe is more effective than meditation. It also has the power to relax you and bring peace.
And that is why I got tiny kitten Daisy, a runt of the litter. When she was one year old, Daisy appeared depressed, with two primary objectives in her mind: food and sleep.
So, to please her, we adopted a male kitten named Leo, and after three days of hissing and growling, she accepted him. Now they’re the greatest pals.
Here are the wise lessons my guru cats have shown me on how to live a healthy lifestyle:
Cats are masters in communication
Cats are known for being masters of communication. I call them “the annoying spouse who won’t stop nagging.”
My cats complain about everything.
It rains, they complain.
I am late with food; they complain.
I am late from running around; they complain.
Sometimes when my cat Leo wants attention, he will come up to me, staring at me until I am paying attention, and then finally he will lie down on the floor next to my feet purring. It feels like communication, but maybe it is just a coincidence.
Often cats communicate better than people. I don’t speak cat, but I know exactly what they want. No need to be a mind reader.
So, let’s speak out. If cats can do it, we as humans can do it, too.
Cats know how to show affection
My cat is Super Snuggler. He loves to cuddle, but he also needs his space. If I get too close, he’ll give me a dirty look and move away. But even with his independent streak, Super Snuggler always comes back for more cuddles when I’m feeling down.
He’s my furry little therapist!
If I am feeling under the weather, and I do not want to go out. My cat, Leo, is always there for me when I am sick.
He will cuddle up next to me on the couch and purr while he kneads his paws against my stomach; it feels nice. Daisy doesn’t quite get what’s going on with me, but she still comes over and tries to make sure that I’m okay, which makes her feel like a big sister looking out for her little brother.
I know, they complain about everything but are never afraid to show affection, and we should learn this from them.
Don’t be afraid to show love and snuggle with your partner or kids. Trust me, your relationships will improve.
Cats can focus for hours
Cats can focus on the important things in life. Why can’t we?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen my cat Daisy standing like a statue in the middle of the room, with all her focus and attention pointed towards some unseen force that has her captivated. Whether she’s staring at a fly or watching an ant crawl on the wall, if she wants to catch it — she’ll catch it.
Leo would sit for hours, not moving a muscle as he stared at his food bowl. It became so bad that I couldn’t even tell if he was breathing or not.
Cats are so focused on ensuring their survival they have to hunt every day, meaning they have no time for things that don’t matter. They focus on the important things in life, like food.
Researchers have found that cats can focus on objects up to 12 times longer than dogs.
This comes in handy when they’re stalking their prey, but it also means that they can be very patient in getting what they want. They are determined and focused, and that’s why they always win in the end.
Lesson for us:
If you want to win in life and achieve your goals, you need to focus and have grit. And have patience: years of patience. So, stop expecting success on Medium in your second month of writing.

Cats know how to relax
Leo loves to play, but she’s also very good at chilling out when she needs to take a break. He knows where all of my cat-relaxation techniques are (like putting his head on the arm of the couch and sticking butt in the air), and whenever I’m feeling stressed or anxious, I just need to move some hair out of my face and he’ll be there in a flash.
Cats know how to take a nap at any chance they get, and they aren’t shy or feel guilty about it.
Our cat shows us if she wants to relax and takes every opportunity to nap throughout the day. Cats know how to chill out better than most people I know!
Cats know about freedom, independence
Cats represent the perfect union of relaxation and independence. Frolicking in the sun or lounging on a warm lap, these creatures know how to enjoy life.
With owning a cat, you can bring a bit of feline bliss into your life every day.
Cats are complete creatures with their own unique personalities — thank goodness they’re self-sufficient!
Because they don’t need other people to make them happy, they’re also very independent creatures. And we should take this as a lesson, and not rely on others to make us happy.
Be independent!
They are authentic
Cats have always been known as the most authentic of creatures. For being themselves, they never hold back. And that’s why cats make such great pets — you always know what you’re getting.
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but cats are the real deal. They’re authentic creatures who teach us how to love unconditionally. And while they can be a little fickle, we can learn a lot from them.
Cats are so different from dogs (I am a dog person) but they love their owners unconditionally, which makes any relationship special. It makes you work harder to get their love, but that is why it makes you appreciate it more.
I never thought I was the kind of girl who would own a cat, but here we are two years later. Leo and Daisy are still here brightening my days, and improving my life for better and healthier.
Psst, I forgot to tell you I was never a cat person until…
