5 web design galleries to enjoy the beautiful Japanese web designs

Japanese design is fascinating, exquisite and is known for its wafuu (和風) design aesthetics. Not only how it looks, you can also see how the Japanese way of living and the philosophy of life being incorporated into the design. I have been a long fan of Japanese web design. In this post, I will share a few websites that you can visit to look for good web designs from Japan.

The examples featured here are mostly presented in Japanese which could be a challenge to navigate. However you can just simply browse with the visual thumbnails and click on it to visit the websites. Let’s jump right in.

Choooodoii

Choooodoii (ちょうどいい) is a Japanese web design gallery that curates good designs that are not just beautifully crafted but also how it works and conveys the message. By clicking into each design, you can see some write-ups of the good design points. Each design featured are extensively tagged with colour, industry, tone of colour, and style. You may click on the search icon floating on the top right of the web page to filter the websites.

MUUUUU

MUUUUU is another web design gallery that features not only Japanese design but also from other countries, however the Japanese web design takes the centre stage. You can find designs of many different styles ranging from the traditional Japanese look to the more modern, internationalised look. You may click on the Category on the top navigation bar or the left sidebar to look into a specific category.

WebDesignClip is a web design gallery to check out examples of Japanese web design. It has a convenient “Japan” tab for designs from Japan. Tapping on the hamburger menu on the right side will open up a side menu containing filtering options to further drill down the design samples.

S5 Style has existed since the time I falling in love with Japanese web design and I consider them the OG of Japanese web design gallery. Once entering this gallery, you will be greeted by a plethora of nice Japanese websites in large thumbnails. There are more than 8000 examples, so be sure to use the filters to find the categories and styles that you looking for.

Last but not least, the last gallery that I want to introduce is Design no Koto, a soft and heartwarming web design gallery. As the other gallery websites introduced above, you can find great design examples presented in desktop view (”PC tab”) and mobile view (”SP tab”).
