5 Warning Signs You Need a Mental Break from Work
Because if you don’t take care of yourself, who will?

I spent the whole night crying and thought, “what the heck is wrong with me?!” I couldn’t help but just got angry at myself.
I was so overwhelmed with the dead-end job that I couldn’t escape and I was so damn tired from hating it.
Sometimes life can be really tough but since you have been in the survival mode for too long, you don’t know how it feels to be sane anymore.
The idea of being happy sounds really strange to you because it seems out of reach. Not because you don’t want to be happy, of course, you do, you just don’t know how to anymore.
However, there is always a great way you can do to prevent yourself from having an emotional breakdown. But how do you know?
Here are some warning signs I can write down for you to find out:
1. You feel emotionally drained all the time
Even on the day where you don’t do much at work, you still feel like you couldn’t think anymore after you get home.
This mainly happens because of the emotional stress you are going through. You might think drinking more coffee so you can stay up will fix it but it’s not. It’s only gonna make it worse.
2. You have sleep problems
It’s hard for you to get a good sleep because it feels like your mind is up 24/7.
No matter how early you go to bed, how much coffee you cut off, or how many books you read 2 hours prior to your sleeping time, you’ll always be waking up in the middle of the night or wake up feeling physically tired, instead of refreshed.
And this happens so frequently you started to think this is normal while the truth is, it’s not.
According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, “Sleep deficiency can lead to physical and mental health problems, injuries, loss of productivity, an even greater risk of death.”
So it’s really important to understand how dangerous this can be for your future if you don’t do something about it.
3. People tell you how ‘dead’ you look outside
People at your work eventually noticed how pale your face looks like and the lack of energy you bring is just something that they can’t ignore.
Not only that, you start spending less time socializing with people. You prefer to sit down alone at the lunch table and busy with your own thoughts.
As a result, people think it’s hard to spend time with you because you become unapproachable. This eventually will result in you having fewer connections with other humans.
4. Nothing excites you anymore
New clothes? Happy hour at your favorite bar? or even promotion from your work? None of those matter to you anymore.
Mainly because you know those things aren’t gonna change how you feel inside. Nothing seems exciting to you.
If you are the type of person who’s ambitious, you’ll notice this pretty fast when it happens.
5. You are emotionally unstable
It’s been always like a roller-coaster. You are feeling really high or really low. There’s nothing in between.
You could be crying in a minute but then laughing over stupid jokes the next minute. Overall, it’s hard for you to have a good stable day because of how unstable your emotions are.
This also makes it hard for you to get along with your co-workers because they notice you are so moody and seem to have a lack of control over your emotions.
Final Thoughts:
There is only so much we can do and forcing ourselves to stay productive all the time is just impossible.
I know how hard it is for some people to just call their manager and asked for two weeks off but another thing to remember is that your mind and body are your greatest assets and if it’s broken, there’s nothing you could do to have it back.
To close this, I’ll leave you with my favorite quote here:
“Managing our stress and our rest is a sign of living wisely. Refueling as a way to find joy, to create pleasure, and to celebrate life in the midst of all its demands fills our hearts with renewed hope. When we take the time to breathe, listen, and rest from the daily grind to see miracles bubbling up in our lives.” ― Sally Clarkson
