5 Trending Side Hustles To Make An Extra $1,000 Per Month
Making an extra $1,000 per month is easier than you think.

The best side hustles are those with the potential to make an endless amount of money. Even better if you can find a high-paying side hustle that doesn’t consume a significant amount of your time.
But where do you start? How do you know what side hustles have the potential of making a lot of money and what ones are going to be a complete waste of time? Let’s face it, no side hustler wants to be busting their butts just to make a few pennies.
Let’s take a look at 10 trending side hustles you can start in 2022 that aren’t going to be a complete waste of your time.
1. Delivering Food and Groceries
This is a side hustle that is always going to be in demand as everybody will always need food and groceries. If you have a vehicle, this can be a great side hustle to get started with, and it’s one that can pay a decent amount of money.
There are a few apps you can get started with. If you are wanting to deliver food, you can start with apps such as DoorDash, GrubHub, or UberEats. If you want to make better money, you can deliver groceries with apps such as InstaCart and Shipt (Shipt is my personal favorite).
Most of these apps are going to give promotions during “peak hours,” so if you are wanting to take your earnings to the next level, it might be a good idea to focus on driving during the dinner rush or on weekends.
Personally, I deliver groceries using Shipt on the weekends. I usually complete 6–10 orders per weekend and walk away with $150-$250 per weekend. It comes out to be an average of $25 per order and each order usually takes 45 minutes.
2. Become an Online Tutor
Being an online tutor is one of the easiest side hustles out there because you are just teaching a topic you are already knowledgeable of in your spare time. To make it an even better side hustle, you can either choose to do it in person, or you can choose to become an online tutor and tutor from the comfort of your own home.
According to PayScale, the median pay for a tutor is about $18 per hour, but there are a lot of websites that pay far more than that. Realistically, tutors can expect to earn in the range of $30-$40 per hour.
To get started as an online tutor, you can sign up on platforms such as Tutor.com, Tutors.com, TutorMe.com, Wyzant, or any other online tutoring platform.
3. Become an Online Proofreader
Now, I know my limitations and this isn’t going to be a good side hustle for me, but it might be for you.
If you are somebody who doesn’t make a lot of typos or grammatical errors, a side hustle as a proofreader might be an easy side hustle for you. Essentially, you get paid to pick apart other people’s work (please just don’t pick apart mine 😂).
This is another side hustle that is going to be around forever, so there is always going to be a demand for proofreaders. Not only that, but it pays pretty well and it can be done from anywhere in the world. All you need is a laptop and an internet connection and you are golden.
In terms of pay, the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) reports that the median hourly pay for an online proofreader is $22.12. If you’re doing that 10–15 hours per week, you can very easily make an extra $1,000 per month.
4. Become a Freelance Writer
Do you ever wonder how so many websites such as The Wall Street Journal, Mashable, Yahoo, BuzzFeed, and others seem to pump out a new article every five minutes?
Hint, it’s not because they have employees sitting in an office all day writing. In fact, the employees they do have don’t even do most of the content writing. They hire freelance writers (content writers) to do all their writing for them.
As a freelance writer, your only obligation is just to create enjoyable and engaging content, and you don’t need a lot of experience as a writer to get started. You can also write for multiple companies at once, just as long as you aren’t submitting the exact same content to more than one company.
Now, let’s talk pay. According to ZipRecruiter, freelance writers in the U.S. make an average of $31 per hour. If you are doing this full-time, that’s $63,448 per year, which is nearly twice as much as the national average salary across the United States. You also do this from anywhere in the world, whether that’s from your own home or if you’re traveling to Bali.
5. Write Professional Resumes
Right now, there are TONS of people out there searching for new jobs, and we all know how important resumes are when trying to get hired. That’s why a lot of people are willing to make the investment to hire writers to write their resumes for them.
If you are somebody who has good grammar and proper writing skills, this is where you cash in.
As a resume writer, you are responsbile for producing professional resumes for those who hire you. You write about past job experiences, qualifications, areas of expertise, and the skills one possesses by using catchy words and phrases.
The rule of thumb for professional resumes is to keep them under 300 words, which can be difficult. This means you have to get straight to the point and don’t have much room to play around with. In most cases, the fewer words you use, the better.
For basic resumes, you can expect to earn anywhere between $50 to $100. Obviously, the more experienced you are the more you can charge. Also, if you are very skilled and write executive-level resumes, you can charge a lot more. According to Indeed.com, executive-level resume writers can earn up to $300 per resume!!!
You can also automate the process to some extent by downloading resume templates online. Some templates might cost a little bit of money, but it’s going to be well worth it when you are able to crank out resumes in a short amount of time. The more resumes you can write in a shorter amount of time, the more money you can make.
Making $1,000 isn’t as hard as you might think. If you break it down, you just need to make $250 per week. With all of these side hustles, you can easily do that with just one day of your time.
Think about it, how would your life change if you were able to make an extra $1,000 per month? Now it’s time to actually start doing these side hustles so that it will change.
