Don’t get me wrong — Etsy can help you build a profitable business, but there are definitely some ugly truths I wish I had known going in.

When you operate within someone else’s marketplace like Etsy, you have to follow their rules.

Seems simple enough, but Etsy’s rules can be tricky to navigate.

I learned this the stressful way when one of my listings was abruptly taken down.

I frantically combed through Etsy’s policies trying to figure out what I did wrong.

Turns out there were some designer brand names visible in my product photos that triggered Etsy’s counterfeit detection program.
