5 Steps to Regaining Self-Discipline
Conquer procrastination and recover your willpower

One will fare better by being always wary of books proposing quick-fixes and easy steps solutions to achieving anything. Despite what the title seems to suggest, this book is none of such genres.
Author Julio Lara has set forth vital and succinct practical steps that you can use to improve and strengthen self-discipline in your personal life. All categories of readers can relate with and apply the challenges described in his, The Discipline Manifesto — Conquering Procrastination and Harnessing Willpower in 5 Steps.
More than before, you need to develop your personal productivity in other to survive and thrive forward. Focus that comes through self-discipline is what will best help you attain this aim. This need is best captured as follows,
Chances are that you have or at least want the best and fastest computer you know, and the best and most updated software related to your industry. You also have or want the fastest and the most useful smartphone that the market offers. You drive or would like to drive that new car model that claims to be the fastest, or the most efficient.
You thrive for efficiency in every aspect of your life, and that is great. But do you hold the same standards for yourself?
Why do you demand more from the world than what you demand from yourself?
I take reviews seriously, and I am not entirely surprised that many other reviewers rated it as 5 stars on Amazon. This is because readers can pick up most of the ideas highlighted by the author and start running with them immediately in their quest towards leading and living more disciplined, more effective and more fruitful lives.
The 5-Steps as posited by the author are as follows,
- Acknowledgment: To accept what you can and can’t do is the first step. By acknowledging your shortcomings, you can come up with the best plan in order to counter your weak spots.
- Harnessing Willpower: Understanding the true nature of willpower and its limits is of utmost importance if you want to harness it.This understanding is what will enable you to use willpower efficiently, and make it work for you and not against you.
- Thrive for Challenges: Nothing worthwhile comes without some kind of challenge. You need to change how you see challenging moments so that you can see and take advantage of whatever positive ends they may hide in them. A positive outlook and self discipline will help you improve and secure amazing results in every other area of our life.
- Automatize: Getting rid of minor tasks that suck your energy and time every day, and automatizing those tasks that you cannot avoid is vital when you are pursuing your dreams and goals. No matter how strong your willpower, it will invariably wane with time. Automating means following routines, procedures, and processes. These will help you press on when willpower sags.
- Perseverance: Nobody gets to become an expert, or even a decent performer, on his or her first try. Failure is a natural part of life and should never stop you from trying.
There is no smooth walk to practising these five steps or becoming a grand-maestro of self discipline. You can only attain this goal through persistence and perseverance — one step taken one moment and one day at a time. “Not being good enough” is not a death sentence, but a reminder of one or more additional steps you must take on your way to your goals.

“If you are not good enough, then get good enough. And don’t say you can’t. Today you have something that no one has ever had before you. You have the entire knowledge of humans at the distance of your hand, and you can access it practically from anywhere and at anytime. Yet, you spend a great deal of free time watching funny videos.”
You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. — Martin Luther King Jr.
Takeaway
Self-discipline is closely connected to motivation, which is derived from a purpose driven life and passion. Finding your motivation and combining with the five steps to attaining self discipline is what will help you to achieve your life’s gaols at the end.
