5 Steps to Hit Your Goal Every Single Time

How often do you have fun doing something?

Over time, I have realized that life is not a competition with others but instead with ourselves.

One of the greatest accomplishments in life is to surpass yourself and live your best life possible. For me, life is an endless quest to evolve towards the best version of ourselves.

To achieve your dreams, you must first find love in your hearts and the fire in your belly.

Greatness lives in all of us. It really does.

However, we all have to find what it is that ignites our spirit and endure the hardships as we move towards achieving our dreams.

Most people feel like a failure because they compromise their dreams.

When you constantly fail at something over and over again, you start to feel like a loser. You give up and abandon that goal for something else.

Surprisingly, the same scenario continues to repeat itself because you are still on the same path of not setting proper action-oriented goals.

This is the reason most people fail at hitting their new year resolution goal.

If you feel stuck or you are about to give up on your dream, here are the five steps I use to nail every goal I set without stressing myself over-thinking each process in my journey.

1. Set goals with clear direction

Most businesses fail because they have no direction of where they are going. Take, for example, if you’re blindfolded and asked to shoot an arrow on your target. Would you hit the targeted point?

NO! But if you have your mind fixated on a specific goal, you can hit your target every single time.

If you are the type to set goals like, “I’m going to lose weight,” or “I want to make more money,” or “I want to double my sales in the first quarter of 2022″. Then you are a long shot to achieving that goal, that is if you do.

The problem is that these types of statements are just what they are- statements. They have little meaning, lack reasoning, and lack specificity.

From our example, your goal should be something in the tone of, “I want to lose 20 pounds to weigh 180 pounds with 10% body fat before Dec 31st, 2022,” or “I’m going to make $150,000 before Dec 31st, 2022,” or “I’m going to make $50,000 in revenue in the first quarter of 2022.”

When you set precise goals, enter dates, times, and amounts, you can measure performance.

If you do this, you will know exactly when you have achieved the goal, and you can feel completely satisfied that you have achieved it.

2. Make a list of what you are going to give up

This is the hardest part of goal-setting. Do you know why? It’s because we hate making sacrifices. You see someone on a weight loss journey munching pizza like there is no tomorrow.

My partner Kenneth is a perfect example. Until he stopped eating his favorite snacks — burger and ice cream — he never saw any improvement in his long hours at the gym for two years.

If your goal is to lose 20 pounds before Dec 31st, 2020, your list should look something similar to “I’m going to stop eating pizza,” “I’m going to give up candy,” and “I’m going to stop drinking alcohol.” Because eating these things will add to your body fat.

Let’s take another example, say your business goal is to hit $50,000 before the second quarter of 2020. You will have to give up any distractions at work.

Your list will be, “I’m going to stop side talks in the hallway,” “I’m going to stop texting and chatting on my social media account whenever I’m at work,” “I’m going to stop hanging out with people (namely XYZ) who are not serving my goal.”

Make sure that whatever you are giving up is something really difficult for you not to live by.

It could be a habit you are so used to or people so close to you. If that thing doesn’t contribute to the success of your goal, get rid of it.

When you make an effort to list those things or people that will interfere with your goal, you will be more focused on things that benefit your goal.

3. Write a defined statement on your objectives

Objectives are what you use to convert your business strategy and tactics into action. Objectives are the specific steps you need to take in order to reach each of your goals. They specify what you must do — and when.

Having an objective helps track your progress as you grow and implement your plan. They’re what you use to manage responsibilities, track results, and convert your idea into action.

Say your goal is to make $30,000 from social media marketing by Jan 1st, 2022. Your objective will be to “create a new Instagram account and have 10,000 followers within four months using paid promotional budget of $1,000/month.”

A clearly stated objective lays out the parameters of the task at hand and sets expectations for its executions. When planning out specific objectives, you’ll need to have a description of the task, due date, and budget.

4. Have a goal-oriented mission statement

Write a mission statement you will read to yourself every morning. The key phrases in your mission statement should include, what you want to achieve, what you will give up, and what you will do to achieve your goal.

The connections between goals and your mission are easy to visualize if you use a flowchart. Key phrases in the mission statement lead to major goals, which lead to specific objectives.

Here is what your mission statement should be if you are trying to lose 20 pounds and stay fit, “I’m going to lose 20 pounds to get to 180 pounds by Jan 1st, 2022. I’m going to give up alcohol, candy, and pizza throughout the months of my challenge. I’m going to get rid of all the food that doesn’t line up with my health. I’m going to workout 30 minutes, five times every week and meal prep every Sunday all meals I will eat the following week.”

Now with a precise mission statement with actionable plans in it, you can be sure to hit your goal every single time. The exact format goes for your business goals.

If your mission statement doesn’t suggest a list of goals, you may want to reevaluate it to see whether it really captures what your business is all about.

5. Be committed to your goal

Congratulations on doing the heavy lifting. Now, it is time to stick to your plan until they materialize.

We look at other people having an amazingly successful life, and we wonder, “how the hell are they doing it?”

You have to understand that people who have accomplished amazing success in life are ordinary people who face challenges in their everyday life.

People who are living their dream life, are ordinary people like you and me. But one thing that they did differently is that they are absolutely committed to their goals.

They don’t just set goals and write them down; they stick to their plans, work on their goals, and take action even when they don’t feel like it.

Staying committed to a goal can be pretty boring, and that’s when most people give up.

If you are reading to this point, it’s because you want to be different. You want to nail each goal you set without stopping halfway, right?

My secret to staying committed is to “have fun while doing it.” When you are having fun doing what you do, you don’t see your goal as a challenge.

At a point, you start to see those objectives as a part of you. They become your principles for achieving everything you want in life.

Whenever I feel like l’m slacking from my target goal, I remember what Dale Carnegie said, “People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.”

Having a sense of fun helps people have a more positive mindset and enjoy higher levels of well-being and better mental health.

There you have it, my top five steps to achieving every single goal. Try these steps, and I promise you won’t regret it.
