How to Spice up Your Stories with Sexy Words

Sexy words will attract more readers.

Let’s talk about sex, baby!

Please don’t underestimate your readers, a lesson that I have to keep on reminding myself whenever I hit the publish button.

Lately, I have been noticing that I have lost my readers and until I read my stories, some reads as bland as a leftover cup of coffee.

It is time to bring back not my girls but the oomph in my writing. And if you think the only way to attract readers is by using profanity, sexy doesn’t only mean sex, there are sexy words that will make your readers experience multiple orgasms, and I am talking about mind orgasms.

One day, out of boredom or trying to find my writing muse, I did the unthinkable, I wrote in the nude.

And I was cold, but it also brought back creativity. Nothing beats being naked. There is authenticity. Being able to be bare allowed me to be naked in my stories and not to hold back.

It was an existential pure nudism experience, the act of taking all inhibitions as a writer without self-censorship.

Actionable steps in becoming a sexy writer

You’ve heard it said before.

“Use short sentences.” “Use short paragraphs.” “Use short words.”

It’s the same advice over and over again, but why? What makes a sentence, paragraph, or word sexy?

And how can you use your writing to make it more attractive and appealing?

1. What makes writing sexy?

The most important thing that makes writing sexy is the same thing that makes writing good: honesty.

There’s a saying in writing that goes, “Show, don’t tell,” which is essential to making your writing sexy.

If you confess how you really feel to your readers, it will paint a realistic picture of what life is really like in run-down housing estates in London or America, without sensationalism.

Showing your readers where life really is a far more effective way to elicit emotion than telling them about what really happens in your life.

To create a realistic portrayal, use real people.

If you have one main character who is the main focus of the story in your head, describe in words the character as you see their personality in your head.

Try not to create unrealistic characters and instead make them as ordinary people, all relatable. Incorporate what you know about people, and let your imagination be your guide.

Try not to write actually private prose — you’ll alienate readers if you take things out of your own experience and add so much detail that it feels characterless or unrealistic.

Let your readers tag along as you take them on a journey through your life by writing from situations where you have to tell a relatively small amount of information that your readers need to know.

Show, don’t tell, and trust your readers.

Character traits are fundamental when trying to make your writing more appealing: too many variables and your writing won’t be understandable.

Write with your readers in mind, and use words that specifically resonate with them.

2. How to write sexier sentences.

When you want to write a sexier sentence, don’t just think about what you’re going to say; think about how you can make it more interesting to read.

One way to do this is by using repetition.

Rhyming words can keep your sentences light and easy to read. If you repeat a word, such as any of the following words, over and over again, it becomes very, very easy to read. Do you see how they all rhyme with each other?

A sentence that says something like this is going to sound very dull and uninteresting: “The sky is blue.” Isn’t this sound better? “The sky is blue and clear this evening?”

Try using fewer words.

Each word is going to have more of an impact on your overall sentence length and readability.

Writing a sexy sentence may sound like it’s effortless. Don’t get me wrong, though — there’s nothing easy about it. You have to organize your thoughts, know when to use which repetition instructions, and even incorporate a smattering of creativity into your text. But trust me when I say it’s worth it.

3. How to write sexier paragraphs.

If you want to write sexier paragraphs, you need to use more powerful verbs to describe your actionable points. Verbs are what make your content come to life.

When you write using powerful verbs, you’re telling a story with your words rather than just stating a fact.

Here, use some creative verbs to describe what you’ll do to solve a problem. You flavor your words with emotion, and that flavor becomes your paragraph.

Think of verbs as modifiers to your thoughts and your words.

The more emotion you add to your verbs and sentences, the more memorable you’ll make your text, the more impactful your content will be, and the more trusted you’ll become among your audience.

“Many of us cannot predict with any degree of accuracy whether misfortune will seize us one day.”

4. How to write sexier words.

When writing copy, you want to use words that evoke emotion in your reader. You can do this by avoiding the words ‘very’ and ‘just.’

These words are weak and will make you sound like you’re trying to convince the reader with weak language.

Instead, choose emotional words that are specific and create an emotional response in your reader.

Try these words instead. Use the word ‘suggestion’ over ‘recommendation’ when giving advice. It sounds more human and less like a sales pitch.

5. Examples of sexy writing.

You don’t have to be a genius to write well. What’s important is that you’re honest, passionate, and can figure out what’s important to your audience and how to talk to them in a way that’s going to be most interesting and most compelling.

As you write, think about the reader as well as about what you want to say. There’s no point in writing lightly. You’re not writing for the people who’ve already are your readers.

You’re writing for the people who have yet to decide whether they’re willing to read it and who might very well change their minds.

Be thoughtful. Be intentional. Clarity is so important. Come right out and tell the truth.

Don’t hide behind personality, style, subject, or some arbitrary fad. Saying it simply and clearly will help your writing not only attract more readers but will help you attract the people you want to attract— your ideal readers.

Conclusion

In between my writing and finding things to do while embracing the purenudism lifestyle, I chatted with a potential date on a dating app, and without thinking, I messaged him with:

“Still looking hot in my eyes!”

It sounded cheesy, and I even said it as soon I recognize what I said.

Being sexy has to come naturally, and it must be the same when we write. Using sexy words means being passionate when we write, our readers will know, and we can learn from what Ernest Hemingway said about sex;

Sex must be experienced as sin to be satisfying. — Ernest Hemingway.

For readers to keep on reading you, it must be experienced as sin, because like sex, that is how it becomes satisfying.
