5 Simple Ways to Gain More Views on Medium

It’ll only take you 10 minutes

I’ve only been using Medium for about 3 months now, and if you want to make it big in writing like possibly writing a book, being on podcasts, and having a successful career then start writing on Medium now.

Create content even if you think it’s terrible because someone else who reads it might think the opposite. You can’t expect to make it big on Medium if you don’t constantly create articles. They want more readers coming in reading your work just as much as you do. Don’t give up on posting even if your first 50 articles flop because that 51st article you upload can always turn out to go viral even if you least expect it.

The bigger your portfolio, the more trust others will have in the type of content that you post

We all want to get our word spread. For us, to have a platform and the capability to influence others sounds like a dream. Here are 5 Simple Ways to get noticed on Medium.

Marketing with Quora and Reddit

Marketing is the second most important aspect aside from your portfolio of whether or not your content will fail or not. Two of the best websites to use if you wanna get extra attention on your articles are Reddit and Quora.

It’s difficult to send the links of your articles with Reddit since they have been making it clear that they don’t allow links. If you spam links to a bunch of your articles you’ll most likely end up getting your account banned. Join subreddits in the writing niche, you’ll see people doing the same thing as you, and you could make new connections with other writers.

Quora is all about questions and answers. When promoting your content give long and brief descriptions to a question and then link your article at the bottom. It won’t be spam because you still answered the question. Answer 3–5 questions involving topics of your blog posts a day and keep a look at your views.

Submit to other publications

I can’t begin to express how important this is. It’ll be near impossible to get any sort of attention if you first start self-publishing. Join as many publications as possible until you think you’ve joined enough. Brainstorm ideas of blogs you can post that you think would be accepted by certain publications and start writing. Don’t be intimidated by the follower count of publications or the quality of other people’s work because we all have our unique writing style that separates us from the rest of writers.

The chances are, some of your applications will get declined and that’s okay. Just keep submitting your articles to publications and you’ll watch your stats go all the way to the moon.

Show engagement to others

You know what they say, “treat others how you would like to be treated”. Apply that same format when it comes to Medium. While claps are nice and all, creators like us absolutely love to see the responses even more. A follow would feel like walking into a mine full of gold for writers (especially me).

If you read an article that you like it doesn’t take a lot of effort to leave a response. Chances are, that person will check out some of your articles as well as a thank you for the engagement on their profile.

Make a newsletter

By using a website like Squarespace or Mailchimp, make a newsletter and focus on a specific topic you’re interested in and want to spread the word. You can even give your subscribers free lessons or ebooks as a way of marketing.

I’ve been following many writers that have their own newsletter either for their publication or for their own personal brand. Email marketing has been taking the world by storm as of late and there’s no better time for you to build your email list up than now!

Newsletters are used to keep in touch and usually is the driving force behind marketing campaigns. You can email your subscribers all sorts of promotions and offers. I recommend sending an email every other day, contact with your subscribers helps build trust and you can earn it from your newsletter

Join other platforms.

While Medium is great and all there are other websites and social networking apps that allow you to post more content of your writing. I recently just created an account on Newsbreak and Vocal Media as a way of generating more followers and combined views. While it’s a hard schedule having to now focus on 3 different platforms, it’ll be worth it in the end.

You can share your Medium content on these platforms as well by just copying and pasting. Both websites are similar to Medium when it comes to writing and publishing an article so it makes more sense to have your work on other websites so that more people see it.

Conclusion

By using these 5 ways you will surely get noticed by other creators in the Medium platform and you’ll notice the engagement of your articles begin to drastically increase.
