5 Simple Habits To Achieve Clear Skin.

Having clear and healthy skin should not be a goal, it is a journey of continuous small efforts and a lifestyle change!

Clear skin is everyone’s goal, some people may think too much about it, while some people simply don’t give a damn and accept everything as it is.

The internet is full of recommending weird and lengthy skincare routines to those who are either suffering from chronic acne or bad skin.

Some poor souls usually fall into that trap thinking that the ten-step Korean skincare might treat their medical acne. Sister, it won’t!

To achieve clear skin, there are simple habits that work. I’m an Indian. Trust me, when I say that because Indians are the masters of home remedies and natural treatments!

I’m sure your doctors would have recommended doses of vitamin A, tetracyclines, macrolides, hyaluronic acid, and many other drugs. But this story isn’t about any medicines or products that you can try out.

You already have many of them stocked up, and they might be working on their pace too. But this story is to help you naturally, to get rid of bad skin for once and for all.

To start with, find out the cause of acne or bad skin. Is it just that teenage acne or there’s something wrong with you internally?

Many times it is our body’s way of showing that something isn’t right on the inside, by showing the signs on the outside. Get a full-body health check-up done, and once all your vital reports are in, you will know if it’s only seasonal acne or something else.

If it’s not something that requires serious medical attention, then you can try these 5 very simple skincare routine habits that will surely give you positive signs of improvement!

1. Wash Your Face. Moisturise. Repeat!

No, don’t scrub it, don’t use peels, and don’t use harsh chemicals on your skin. It is already bruised and damaged. You don’t want to trigger the damage more.

Secondly, wash your face at least two times a day. Once in the morning when you go for a bath, and a second time before going to bed. And every time you wash your face, do not forget to moisturize it afterward.

Use a gentle, water-based moisturizer, especially if you have oily skin — do not use oil-based or cream-based moisturizers. They will clog the pores of your skin and leave no breathing space.

You are free to wash your face more than twice as well, but try to use only water during those times. Every time you use soap, it strips off the natural moisture of your skin and leaves it rough and dry.

Once you’re done washing and moisturizing, don’t step out of your house immediately. Wait for a few minutes till the moisturizer is absorbed by the skin. Otherwise, it will attract dust and debris that will get stuck to the moisturizer, and damage your skin.

2. Be Hygienic. Use Clean Towels.

We don’t realize but we often rest our heads on the couch in the living room. The covers of which were washed last summer! And in the process, we also rub our faces on those dirty couch covers.

Bacteria infestation on the skin is the leading cause of acne and pimples. If you are not following a basic hygiene routine, it won’t go away.

Yes, some people are unaffected by dirty couches and car seats, while some people have sensitive skin so they’re more impacted. But that’s how it is. If you’re blessed with sensitive skin, you might need to go an extra step to care for it.

Keep the pillow covers clean — on which your face rests for eight hours every night! Wash them every other day, or at least change them frequently. If you can’t wash them or change them so often, invest in large-sized silk handkerchiefs or fabrics, and place them over the pillow before you sleep. Change them frequently.

Silk does not scratch your skin and also provides moisture. Cotton is more dehydrating for your skin overall.

Use clean towels for wiping or cleaning your face. If you think that’s too much, stop using fabric towels, and use paper towels instead. That way at least you will be using a new, clean piece each time!

3. Make Face Masks Rich In Vitamin — C

This is where the Indian in me is finally happy because, since my childhood, I’ve seen my mother and other women in my house create custom face masks from readily available ingredients in the kitchen!

You don’t need to buy any products or dab chemicals on your skin. Just use what you already have.

For this face mask you need — chickpea flour (or rice flour), turmeric powder, yogurt, and lemon juice.

Mix a tablespoon of chickpea flour in a pinch of turmeric, a tablespoon of yogurt, and the juice of half a lemon. Make sure the mix is not too runny, and blend it into a smooth paste that’s easy to be applied using your fingers.

Apply this mix on your face till it dries. No rocket science there. And once it is dry, wash it off with warm water. It might be a little sticky, so be gentle while washing it off.

If you have some skin damage problems like pigmentation or blemishes, there’s another, simpler recipe.

Just mix rice flour and milk into a thick paste, apply it till it dries and scrub it off. If you have acne along with pigmentation or blemishes — avoid scrubbing, just gently remove it with damp, warm cotton pads.

Try these natural, chemical-free face packs for a week and you will see a positive difference for sure!

4. Hydrate Yourself. Drink Up!

We don’t understand how important water is to our body until it starts showing on the outside.

Drink as much water as you can during the day, at least 3 liters in one day. If you’re working out or have a physically intensive job, increase the intake even more.

Water will repair your skin damage, and keep it supple and soft. Dehydration is also a prominent cause of multiple skin problems. If you don’t like the taste of water, try infusing it with berries or fruits. Add mint leaves to your bottle for a hint of freshness, and you will love drinking it every day.

Make yourself like drinking water, and your body will thank you in the long term!

5. No Stress!

We might underestimate it, or simply shove it aside but stress is a leading cause of all problems inside your body. Even skin problems arise from too much stress.

Stress makes your body release the hormone known as ‘cortisol’, which causes your skin to be more oily and therefore, more pimples and acne issues.

The more happy and relaxed you will be, the better your skin will be. I know it sounds simpler than it is done, but staying stress-free is the key to a healthy life.
