5 Reasons Why You Must Live for Something in This Life
Without a purpose, you’re only but living
Every human life on this planet has a purpose — a reason for which they exist.
Something every great teacher who has walked on the surface of the planet had to admonish their follows to live. And the reason is that without a purpose in this life, everything that comes the way of the individual is right — even the dumbest thing.
There’s no right or wrong, good or bad.
But with a purpose, the individual can differentiate and identify themselves with what’s right and wrong based on who they’re and why they exist, and life becomes uncomplicated and straightforward.
From this, you’ll realise why some people are living stressful lives. And the reason is the lack of purpose in their lives and here is why you mustn’t live without a purpose.
You’re only but just living
Like already said, there’s a reason for our existence. And making a difference with your life is the biggest goal you should aim.
Therefore, without a purpose for which you’re living, you’re only as good as the dead. Because to be alive and not live for something makes your life worthless. You have no value, and there can’t be meaning to your life.
And that’s not who you want to be. You want to be more than that.
You want to be that kind of person that when they mention your name, people can identify you.
Think of people who have affected the world positively, and what comes to your mind? What they lived for — their purpose, right?
And that’s what identifies them from every other soul on the planet, and same is what you must also aim.
Because without purpose, you’re only but living as Simon Foster said;
“Knowing your life purpose is the first step toward living a truly conscious life. A life purpose provides us with a clear goal, a set finish line that you truly want to reach.”
You have no value and place in the world
Everything on the planet has value. And as humans, our value comes from the purposes for which we’re living our lives, and by this, the life of each individual is measured.
“The value of life is not in its duration but in its donation. You are not important because of how long you live, you are important because of how effective you live.” — Dr Myles Monroe
How beneficial we’re to the world, our communities, family and friends are by the value that comes from our lives, and this is what gives us a place in the world.
And not living for anything, I guess you know who you’re? Nothing.
Why do you think when someone is sick, it’s the doctor’s name that they call?
Or when someone wants to build a house, they look for the architect?
It’s all because of the purpose the life of these individuals is serving. And this is what makes them valuable.
So without a purpose that they’ll mention your name when someone needs something, you’re nothing, and if that’s what your life is right now, it’s about time you start looking for your purpose and serve it to the world because only through that you’ll be valuable to the world.
Stress becomes the order of the day
“When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind.” — Seneca
Imagine you want to move from New York to Los Angeles, and you have no idea how you’re going to get there. What will happen?
How would you feel waking up in the morning and you have no idea what you have to do. You are thus jumping from one thing to another with no understanding why you’re engaging yourself in those activities. How would you feel?
Stress, right?
And that’s just how life is when you’re not living for something — a purpose.
To avoid this, you must carve a niche for yourself, find out what you were created for and live in that direction.
Because without this, there’ll be no sense of direction, and your life will be full of stress. And with this, you can’t tell why the lives of the majority are full of anxiety. And it’s all because of the lack of purpose in their lives.
Everything will be right for you
In Corinthians 6:12, the apostle said;
“All things are permitted for me to do but not all things benefit me.”
Guess he said this based on the purpose for which was living his life.
And it makes sense because, without a purpose, everything will be right for you. You can’t distinguish between what’s right and what’s not.
You’ll go by anything that comes your way — which leads to stress and anxiety.
And living a life full of stress and anxiety, sadness is the order of the day.
But living for something — a purpose, you’re saved from the setbacks and the negativities that makes life feel miserable.
May live for someone
We’re living in a world where two things are involved — living for yourself or living for someone. It’s either you’re in control, or someone is in control of your affairs.
Therefore to be in control and avoid being under the control of others, the best way is to find out about your purpose and live it.
Because if you don’t, then you’ll be used by other people because that’s how the system of the world is all about — use or be used by someone. And you don’t want to allow this in your life. You want to be in control. And the only way to do that is with your purpose.
Living for something in this life, not only does it make life simple but meaningful and worthy.
So in all of your ins and outs, always make sure you’re living your purpose — the reason you were brought into the world because only through that we’ll have a better world.
