5 reasons I hate the influencer life!

Reality behind why I chose to be a writer instead.

I have never been an influencer but I always looked up to other influencers.

However, I liked to be an influencer back then (when I was a kid).

Growing up I have realized so many realities that always stay behind the cameras that made me hate the influencer life.

This is one of the biggest reasons I chose to become a writer instead.

Note that I don’t hate any influencer, I still watch a few online but it is not something I want for myself anymore.

1. Privacy:

Well! This might be different for a lot of people because some influencers are smarter and keep a lot of things private that are supposed to be private, including family, relationships, workplace, etc.

But a lot of influencers have to put their lives on the internet especially because that is exactly what they are influencing the audience with.

That is the thing the audience wants from them, “privacy”.

Most people have no privacy when they share their lives on the internet, though they are fine with that.

But I am the type of person who doesn’t want that. The more I am private the more happier and safe I feel. Some of you might disagree therefore let’s put it this way, “I am an introvert and camera shy”, lol.

2. Self-doubt:

The more (pictures and videos) influencers share on the internet, the more insecure they become especially when they are already insecure about something.

We all get self-doubts as human beings it is sometimes normal but it is increased with being an influencer.

3. The pressure to update people about my life:

I have seen some people who come up with an announcement about something they should have announced sooner as per their audience and they get a lot of hate for it in return, just because they hide it.

Even when our lives are not on the internet, we still have a lot of people around us to make assumptions about our life but the more you are on the internet as an influencer, the more assumptions are made about you, which I believe isn’t pleasing and it is not something I want.

4. Stalkers:

This recently added to my list of, “Reasons I hate the influencer life” as I read somewhere in the news about influencers being stalked and harmed/robbed.

It is like a nightmare.

I think influencers might fear this too especially those who let the audience know where they live or where they are going.

5. Faking:

Well! This is a bit debatable because I think a lot of influencers don’t fake themselves. People love them for who they are.

But you must have heard of stories where they are known as a “cute, lovely couple” or “A lovely family” and then sometime later, the internet is filled with how brutal that person is to their family or friends. That hurts my soul.

It hurt their fans who followed them for being cute, nice, and lovely and they came to know they were faking it.

They probably do this for views.

Some influencers run out of content so make up fake stories about their life and start a war with other influencers in the online world. Turn into a drama rather than influencing.

This is also a part of an influencer’s life where you have to fake yourself to your audience sometimes, therefore, I don’t like it.

Now, let’s talk about why I chose writing.

Hmm, writing is my favorite thing. Writing on Medium? The best thing ever happened to me.

I don’t spend time on any other social media as much as on this amazing writing platform. This is why I like WordPress blogging as well, based on informational articles regarding one specific niche.

I like how Medium allows writers to express their thoughts, and share their experiences with an amazing audience.
