5 Practical Miracles and Wonders You May Miss Every Day
In between every disappointment and mistake are miracles and opportunities bubbling to the surface of your everyday life.

I remember the first time I saw a double rainbow. I was almost eight years old, running around in my grandparent's backyard with my little brother and my dog Snoopy blowing bubbles.
Yes, I had a dog named Snoopy, who also slept atop his doghouse.
My little brother was the first to see it. "Look, it's two rainbows in the sky."
My grandfather, who had just come into the backyard to check on us, looked up and smiled.
"Granddaddy, is that a miracle?" I asked.
"Just as sure as the good lord made it," my grandfather said proudly.
The Wonder of Miracles
The saying, "You can live two ways. You can live as if nothing is a miracle, or you can live as everything is a miracle," has been credited to Einstein.
Perhaps my grandfather couldn't explain a double rainbow. He simply saw its wonder and beauty. He might not have known that sometimes light reflects twice off the back of the raindrop.
The word miracle derives from the Latin word mirari, which means to wonder at. And yes, a reported miracle does excite wonder. Miracles excite wonder in us because they appear as an event or happening beyond the reach of human actions or natural causes.
Miracles give hope, especially when disappointments, failures, and misfortunes happen.
Some days you need hope for the times when you think you are doing everything right though everything seems to turn out wrong.
Your work life may not be satisfactory. Your friends may move away. A relationship comes to a crushing end. That great job turns out not-so-great. The dream client is a nightmare.
Many events in your life will disappoint you, but layered between those disappointments are practical, everyday miracles. Practical miracles are the effervescence of life.
Miracles Happen Every Day
Miracles happen every day. They bubble up from their hidden source, surround us with opportunities and disappear. — Deepak Chopra
You've heard the phrase "miracles happen every day." You may have chanted these words of encouragement to friends and loved ones to ease their worries, doubts, and sorrows.
You may believe in the big miracles of healing, a chance meeting that changed your life, and a financial win that happened just in time.
Yet, do you believe in practical miracles? Would you miss an opportunity that comes your way while waiting for an event that natural causes can't explain?
What If Most Miracles Are Practical?
“Oh, for the wonder that bubbles into my soul.” — D. H. Lawrence
What if you can explain your miracle? What if there is nothing supernatural about it? Perhaps, your miracle is wonderful because it happened.
I propose practical miracles happen, but you can choose to see them or walk through life missing the beauty and wisdom practical miracles offer.
Hence, let's explore five practical daily miracles and opportunities you may miss.
1️⃣ Synchronicities — Wonders You Can't Explain
Psychology defines synchronicity as the occurrence of meaningful coincidences that seem to have no cause; that is, the coincidences are acausal. Carl Jung introduced the concept of synchronicity in his later works (the 1950s) in psychology.
And yet, what is practical about a coincidence?
Most people view synchronicities as unexplainable. You may not know the cause of these meaningful coincidences, but synchronicities happen throughout your day.
Synchronicities are not "and suddenly." Synchronicities always happen but can seem like a supernatural force made it happen.
You can see meaningful coincidences when you are in a state of mindfulness. You have slowed down and become conscious and aware, and you can see when things have aligned.
Specifically, you can see when things have aligned in your favor.
2️⃣ Serendipity and favorable outcomes
Yes, things can work out for your good daily. Serendipity is good fortune. Some would say it's luck. However, many of us have heard the expression:
“Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
You experience favorable outcomes every day. You got the parking spot you wanted. You made it home before a terrible thunderstorm.
You don't have to win the lottery to have a favorable outcome as a practical miracle.
3️⃣ Opportunities right in front of you
Wow, it's been there the entire time, but you didn't see it. The wonder, the miracle, is when you open your eyes and realize what has been there all along. You have driven past that building a hundred times and didn't read the sign that said "treasures and books."
But the day you decide to park your car and take the two-city block walk, you see it and think, "Was that always there?"
You may have worked the same equation repeatedly for weeks but didn't see the one variable that made the whole thing turn out right. When you see it, it's a miracle.
4️⃣ Personal Breakthroughs
You may credit your hard work and dedication when perseverance and commitment pay off. You may not have seen the twenty-seven things that worked together for that life-changing opportunity.
You may not have known that the eighth try would be a success. The miracle may not be the victory. The miracle may be the commitment, discipline, and razor-sharp focus.
5️⃣ Evidence of Personal Growth and Transformation
And then, there are times when a miracle appears as transformation and change. You are different. Goodness, you're not the same person you were a year ago.
You look in the mirror, and not only is the change mental and spiritual, but you can also see a physical change. How did those little changes you made transform you into the person you are right now? Does it feel like a miracle?
You Can Explain Double Rainbows, But They Are Miracles Too
Two bubbles found they had rainbows on their curves. They flickered out saying: “It was worth being a bubble, just to have held that rainbow thirty seconds.” — Carl Sandburg
Ultimately, miracles are about participating in the wonders of life. You may have a scientific explanation for how that great thing happened when it happened but can't explain why it happened for you.
You could have a dynamic twelve-step process proving how you finally did it, yet it may still be a miracle you did it on August 22, 2022, at 8:22 p.m. pacific time.
Have I seen a double rainbow in my grandparents' yard after that day? Yes, I did. Almost twenty-five years later, I saw another rainbow in the small town where my grandparents lived.

While I do not follow the traditional religious beliefs of my childhood, I see miracles daily.
And when I saw this rainbow, I still considered it a miracle. I only wished I had some bubbles.
Fam, I'm curious, what's a miracle to you? What do you think Einstein meant by "you can live two ways?"
