5 Most Active Discord Servers for Python and Data Science in 2022
Discord servers to learn Python, data science, math, get career advice, and more.
Discord is usually associated with online gamers, but do you know there are many servers dedicated to data science and Python?
Discord is also a great place to connect with other data science enthusiasts or experts like you. There you can ask questions and get advice on topics such as Python, data science, mathematics, machine learning, and more.
There are lots of other places where you can ask questions and get answers, but Discord is the best option whenever you want to ask a quick question or start a discussion with people online (as long as the Discord server has a highly active community).
During the past weeks, I’ve joined different Discord servers dedicated to Python and data science. Here are 5 servers I believe have the most active community in 2022.
Python
This is not only one of the largest Python communities on Discord but also one of the most active.
This Discord server is perfect for those who are learning to code in Python. The members of the community help Python newbies take their first steps into the world of programming. One of the most helpful channels is the python-general channel. There you can ask Python-related problems and get answers quickly.
That said, this server is also great for expert developers looking to collaborate and eager to keep improving their skills by helping other members of the community.
If you’re learning data science, this server is for you too. There’s a channel named data-science-and-ai where you can discuss scientific python, matplotlib, statistics, machine learning, and more!
Tech with Tim
I think anyone who’s ever watched a Python tutorial on YouTube knows Tim. He not only runs a big YouTube channel but also has an active community on Discord.
His server is more focused on programming, so you would find channels such as python, frontend, and backend, but I think the channels ml-and-ai and maths can be useful for those into data science.
There’s also a cool project-showcase channel where you can show off the projects you’ve created.
Mathematics
Maths is one of those skills that every data scientist must have. What better place to keep learning maths than a Discord server with a highly active community?
The Mathematics server provides an academic atmosphere for discussing and learning mathematics. Although this server isn’t only focused on data-science-related topics, you can check the channels that cover some essential maths topics within data science.
The channels calculus, linear-algebra, and probability-statistics are good places to start for anyone getting into the field of data science. They’re inside the “Early university” section, so feel free to ask any question even if it seems too basic.
Learn AI Together
This is a server with around 22000 members. Although the server name highlights the words “Artificial Intelligence,” it has channels that go beyond this topic.
In this server, you can also talk about machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and more. There are also channels where you can ask questions about math, programming, data analysis, data visualization, pandas, etc.
“Learn AI Together” is definitely a great community not only for AI enthusiasts but for anyone who works with data.
Tina’s Friends
Tina Huang is another YouTuber who makes videos about data science, learning, and productivity, so you can expect something similar from her Discord server “Tina’s Friends.”
In this server, you’ll find a lot of data-science-related channels such as python, r, sql, machine-learning and statistics (these channels are invisible, so to activate them you have to give yourself the role “Data Science” reacting in the channels-access-roles). Although these channels aren’t as active as those from other servers, there’s still a good number of people to interact with.
Another channel I found really useful is the career-questions channel. There you can ask questions regarding your career and get advice from others.
