5 Incredible Travel Experiences To Be Grateful For

My mind fills with gratitude as I look over my traveling experience

Authors Own- Nadi, Fiji

When it comes to travel, it’s hard to pinpoint just one thing to be grateful for, because I am so grateful for the whole experience of even being able to travel, but this can be broken down into many different facets.

There were so many things to be grateful for; the list could’ve ended up as a novel.

Here are just a few things where I feel the utmost gratitude when it comes to my travel life.

Solo travel

Traveling was one of those things that I knew I always wanted to do, but I just never thought I would end up actually doing it.

Maybe it was because there weren’t many people around me choosing this path so it seemed unattainable at one point, or perhaps it was the fact that whenever I attempted to create travel plans with friends they always fell through.

But it was a longing that never faded away, and after a series of events- which now that I look back I realise were the chips falling into place- I decided to take the leap of faith and go it alone.

I can't even express how unbelievably grateful I am that I didn’t allow myself to get turned off traveling when it seemed like things were not working out.

But it ended up being part of a bigger plan that pushed me to take my life into my own hands and not depend on other people.

Mishaps

It is inevitable with anything that things don’t often go according to plan. This is something I am all too familiar with, and I have faced many mishaps, situations going awry, and general bad luck along my travels.

At the time they were the biggest inconveniences, but I can look back now and honestly be grateful for going through and overcoming these obstacles.

There were valuable lessons to be learned from my mishaps and they made me a stronger person, one who is better equipped to face adversity.

Testing my limits

New experiences are what travel is about for me, and there were times when I really thought I would back out of doing certain things that scared me, but I am proud of everything that I have dabbled in.

I didn’t grow up having a massively outdoorsy life; so outdoor adrenaline junkie sports were just not my thing. But I knew that I wanted to experiment and there was no better time to try than whilst I was traveling.

From scuba diving and snowboarding to surfing, paragliding and skydiving, I am so glad that I tried all these things, because some of them were activities I never dreamed myself capable of attempting let alone enjoying.

Life perspective

One of the most rewarding things about traveling is being able to see the many different ways of life the world has to offer.

The world is such a big place and it is so mind-boggling to me that there are people who genuinely believe there is a right and wrong way to live.

When you experience so many different cultures you realise that there is absolutely no one way to live life, life can be lived how we see fit and we don’t need to fit the mold of society or the people around us.

Ability to travel

I understand deeply how lucky and privileged I am to be in a position where I can travel and see different places with ease, but this is not the case for everyone in the world.

I never want to take this opportunity for granted because I am so lucky to have it.

Being able to see the world in the way that I have, is not something a lot of people have an opportunity to do and I know that this isn’t my right, it is a privilege, one that I will always remember how lucky I am to have.

I just want to say thank you Anne Bonfert for this incredible prompt.

Gratitude is one of the best energies to cultivate and when we are in a state of gratitude we are able to identify all the other great things that are present in our life.

Writing this article reinforced my deep sense of gratitude for all that I have experienced and the more I wrote the more I kept finding things to be grateful for.

That’s the beauty of gratitude, it constantly brings more things to be thankful for to the surface and we find ourselves emitting positive energy.
