5 Habits of Extremely Boring People

2# You don’t have a strong opinion.

Have you ever been in an uncomfortable situation with someone awkward?

It’s the worst feeling. To be in the presence of someone who brings no value to your life and makes everything boring and awkward for you.

They are the ones who make you wish you can crawl away from the situation because of how dry their personalities are.

You can get tired of being with boring people who uninspires you. You want to be with those who can challenge you and inspire you.

Boring people tend to make the situation uncomfortable and awkward. I avoid them as much as I can. The feeling of discomfort would appear in me.

But it doesn’t have to be this way forever, these habits will help you to understand yourself better if you apply these 5 habits.

You Are Denying Everything.

You are quick to deny everything someone says. You react before you think. If you deny everything quickly, it means it’s the truth and you can’t handle it. It can get pretty boring to be with someone who keeps the same old pattern of denying everything for a long time.

You believe you never did anything wrong and it’s always everyone’s fault. To be in denial can make people become uninterested in you. To deny anything is to be proud of yourself. Problem is, you won’t move forward if you deny your mistakes.

Example:

You said or did something to hurt the other person. The other person is opening up to you about what you did to hurt them. The first thing you do is have a victim mindset saying the person is being judgemental and that you didn’t do anything wrong.

How To Apply Being Better:

  • Ask yourself this “How is this teaching me a lesson?” Think before you react. Practice mindful routines such as meditation if you want to improve your self-control. Have more empathy for other people.

“More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren’t so busy denying them.” ~ Harold J. Smith.

You Don’t Have A Strong Opinion.

If you want to impact the world a little bit, have an opinion. Your opinion can help someone feel less alone in their own opinion. Someone becomes interested in you when you have the courage to speak your mind instead of nodding yes all the time.

People crave human connection with those who bring value to the table. People like to be with someone who can challenge them. If everyone were the same, the world would be boring. Don’t you think?

People want to hear your opinion. If you have the same opinion, you will not be much of a help. We want a second opinion sometimes. We want to hear what other people think. It can help people to get a different viewpoint.

This was said by Tupac’s mom in the movie “All Eyez On Me” when she talked to him:

“Speak. I didn’t raise you to be silent.”

Example:

I would rather have a friend who says I’m a bad singer than a friend who says I’m great at singing after I made a full-on embarrassment to myself in front of the crowds. I want a friend who can speak her mind with confidence than a quiet friend who agrees to everything I’m saying without saying much.

How To Apply Being Better:

  • Write down your own comment on a paper about any topic and read them out loud for yourself. It can help you to get the confidence in voicing your opinion. Exchange small unpopular opinions with someone you trust. Affirm that you have the courage to share your opinion with people.

‘I never learned from a man who agreed with me.’ ~ Robert A. Heinlein

You Refuse To Learn Anything.

If you refuse to learn, people will refuse to open up to you about how they feel about you. It can ruin your chances of having potential relationships with amazing people. You have no desire to learn anything and you’re still stuck in the same comfort zone for years. Maybe you feel like you know everything but you don’t. People like those who want to learn and grow with them.

When you refuse to learn, you refuse to go on an adventure with yourself. It’s where you start to know more about yourself, you find out what your fears are and how to overcome them. If not, you will have a hard time making new friends who are always evolving and growing.

In the movie “Yes Man” you see a man who says yes to everything as a challenge. If you need more inspiration, go and watch the movie and see what it teaches you.

Example:

  • You receive personal feedback about yourself and immediately say “No this is not true.” and you make excuses as to why the feedback is not solid. You are good at finding mistakes in people but you never find a single mistake in yourself. You stay away from anything that is exciting to learn. What does this tell you?

How To Apply Being Better:

  • Listen to people’s feedback about you. This helps you to understand yourself better. You need a third-person perspective of yourself. Start to do more research on personal growth and personal development. Read more self-help books, if you need some guidance. Go on a journey with people. Try the things they suggest to you.

“If you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you haven’t learned anything.”~ Muhammad Ali.

You Have No Passion For Anything.

You have no passions in life yet you think this is a normal thing. – When you have no passion, you will have no topic to talk about with someone. You will come off as a person with no personality.

Having a passion adds to your personality — It’s part of making you an interesting person who stands out. You will be seen as adventurous.

I believe it’s pretty common for people to have a passion in life. To practice something they love with all their heart. People find you less interesting if you have no passion for anything in life.

Example:

  • Let’s say you have a passion for something and you share it with someone you like. The reaction of the person is uninterested and they say they don’t have any passion. Do you want to be with someone who is dull and dry like this? They never lighten up and have no interest in what you talk about. You get receive no reciprocation back.

How To Apply To Be Better:

  • Find out what you liked to do as a child and ask yourself why you stopped doing it. You have at least one passion in life, everyone does. Try something you are afraid to try. Explore your talent by trying something different. Something you never tried before.

“Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate.” ~ Jon Bon Jovi.

You Are Always Serious In The Conversation.

Most of all, you only engage in small talk only, and with small talk, you are always serious. You can’t take a joke and you take everything personally. One innocent word from someone can make you mad and it comes from your unhealed trauma in the past.

The last thing someone wants in their life is a Karen. You will be seen as someone everyone dislikes. To make a joke in a conversation can help loosen up the tension in the room. If something silly happens, you don’t laugh at it. You don’t even make a joke to make other people laugh.

Confident people laugh at themselves for doing something silly.

Example:

  • If someone calls me lazy for procrastinating for a few days, I would laugh and say “Yes I’m very lazy right now.” not only are you showing yourself to be a chill person, you make the other person realize that you’re fun to be with because you are confident in yourself.

How To Apply Being Better:

  • Laugh at the funny jokes. Lighten up a little bit. Smile a little bit more. Stop taking life so seriously. Talk about the things that make you happy. Ask into the person's life and stop taking everything personally. Watch more comedy movies.

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” ~Confucius

The Final Insight:

Cheer up, life is meant to be fun.

I really like having friends who have an opinion on different topics. I can’t stand being with someone who denies everything, has no opinion, refuses to learn, have no passion for anything, and is always serious in a conversation.

When you exhibit boring habits, you come off as an insecure person and people run away from those people. If you want a better life and better relationships with people, you gotta lighten up a little bit.

You don’t have to be the same person for the rest of your life.

You can be completely different than who you were a year ago. You can be better than what you used to be. I’m completely different than a year ago. If this happened to me, it can happen to you but you have to be willing to hear the truth first.

I know you can do better if you haven’t applied these habits yet.

If you want to change, start with yourself first.
