5 Habits of A Happy Minimalist🌼
Here are 5 habits of a happy minimalist, based solely on the opinion and experiences of one happy minimalist… me!😊
And yes, I have a couch (I’m sitting on it as I write this article) and a TV and clothes in my closet and a car and I spend money. I am neither a monk nor a hermit, not that there is anything wrong with either of them.
Anyway…
- Declutter your home and mind.🏠 Get rid of unnecessary things and negative thoughts. Maintain clear physical and mental space. Embrace simplicity. Tidy every night and wake up to a refreshing home that promotes calmness and positivity.
- Live a life of gratitude.🙏 Every time someone takes time out of their day to give you a gift for a special occasion, express your gratitude in writing. This may be handwritten on a paper card sent in the mail, a thoughtful email or text, or a social media post with a public expression of gratitude. If the gift is not something that brings you joy, still be grateful for the thought and effort and return it to the store, re-gift it, or sell it and do as you wish with the money.
- Spend money on experiences.🏖 You find more meaning through experiences with loved ones than you do spending on impulse purchases that you will rarely use and that do not truly contribute to your happiness. Some experience ideas include live shows, professional sports events, festivals, vacation trips, a movie and dinner, or a group activity. There are also free activities such as garden walks, museum visits, or picnics, all of which invite beautiful memories.
- Spend intentionally in order to have the best chance at financial stability.💰 Financial health allows you to spend on yourself and your loved ones to bring happiness today while saving and investing for your future. Spend on necessities and well-thought-out wants.
- Rest and sleep for physical and mental health, stress relief, and energy.😴 Say no to activities or events that you have little or no interest in. Say no to negativity and overspending. Prioritize your health and your values.
All of these habits support a minimalist lifestyle of time freedom, mental, physical, and financial health, and most importantly happiness.🌼
