5 Growth Hacks To Go From 0 to 1 Million SaaS Users in 9 Months.
This is from the Twitter thread of David Park, CEO of Jenni AI. They’re now at 2.5M users. Some of us just got a crippling sense of failure because you’re looking at your daily active users dashboard. It shows 1000 or, 10, or 1(yourself).
Want to learn how Jenni AI blew the lid off and got 1 million users in 9 months? Let’s go.
Partner with new Influencers.
The algorithm overlords might decide they don’t like you.
They might also decide if they like the big name influencer you’re getting to promote you product. Why place all your eggs in one basket? Spread it across a bunch of influencers. Even better, spread it across a number of new influencers. With the rise of UGC content, more brands are trusting the everyday Joe and Jane to create and promote their products.
What’s more, those guys cost way less. So why pay $2,500 in one place when you can pay $250 in 10 places and get a bigger bang for your buck?
Here’s how David did his:
A few Tips directly from David
- Go to the hashtags your audience watches and see which accounts have been getting views.
- If a new-ish account has multiple videos with 100k+ views, it’s GOLD
- Negotiate a price they’re happy with, then see if you can get a discount for a bundle deal.
- Be nice.
Borrow someone’s face
What would happen if your favorite artist, David’s was BTS, just upped and decided to create a new tiktok account?
Of course, all the videos on there would go viral. The algorithm overlords will have to push it out. SO dig in and find someone that the audience you want to reach recognizes. Then you borrow their face. Mine would be Nicolas Cole. He teaches people writing which involves a fair bit of cold outreach. Having someone like him push our my start DMfollow would be massive. DMfollow helps people automate followups in their DMs.
For Jenni AI, it was some guy called MengMengDuck, I’ve never heard of him. They got him to create videos on their account and got 7 million + impressions in the first month. The videos were being pushed to the guy’s audience and this laid the foundation for their account. After the foundation was in place, they could bring in other creators.
Tips directly from David:
- Repost vids on all platforms (Reels, TikTok, YT Shorts) — Post 1+ videos per day — Initially, post vids similar to what the influencer posts on their main account — We paid $4000/mo for MMD who had 500k followers, but you can get someone cheaper for similar results!
Explore and then exploit
Keep churning out content. Experiment with different things until you hit content gold.
Once you hit content gold, stop experimenting and start exploiting. Create more and more and more of that content. For Jenni AI, their gold was “POV: you have an essay due”, this generated over 40 million views overall.
For instance, as of time of writing, I’m wolfing down a drumstick from a chicken and jollof rice meal prep I made for the week. There was a bit of problem though. This is why I never change the variables of anything once I have a perfect formula. I had to lend out my big pot so I had to use my smaller pot to parboil the rice to remove the starch so it won’t be mushy. Oh well, the new pot variable introduced messed up my rice and it came out a tad bit mushy. Quite annoying.
Find what works, tweak a little to make it different, but never change the core.
Multiply Your Accounts
Again once you find content that works, don’t keep exploring and don’t keep it on one account.
Create multiple accounts. This can be made easier by catchall emails. Repost that viral worthy content on all the accounts. For Jenni AI, they have an account with just 48 followers which sometimes brings in more views on the same videos than their main account does with 55k followers.
Follower count does not matter.
Have A Sticky Product
Now we arrive at the unsexiest part.
You just have to have a great product. Customers are fine but if your product is rubbish, it will be shown the trash bin. It’s easier to get customers and for your videos to go viral. Does your product actually do what it says? Will they get maximum bang for their buck? Did you listen to what they told you they wanted in the product?
Bad product = failure.
There’s no way around it. If you create a buzz at the top of your conversion funnel, once they reach the bottom, your product, everything will go kaboom.
No fear though, follow the questions above and you should have a banger product.
