5 Free Selfhood Investments You Should Make Right Now
You miss 100% benefits of risks you don’t take.

Very few men will ever experience what success tastes like. It’s not a beanstalk that emerges from a seed. It’s a road we need to walk alone.
It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness, Seneca.
No matter how long the road is, it’s always better than sitting down and doing nothing.
Good news: good times are near. We might not come from wealthy families with horse stables and gold mines, but we can make it possible with a few worthy investments in our lives.
I know a lot of people clicked on this title hoping to have stock investment tips. But for that, you need to save money in the first place.
Let’s think about people suffering from low self-esteem and low confidence. You can only trust into something new when you know you’re well. It’s okay if you don’t have money to invest in stocks or you’re afraid. Keep in mind that you can always make free selfhood investments in your life to lead a fruitful life.
…and they won’t cost a fortune.
1. Books
Life is a game. And the book makes this game spicier.
Turns out, as Google says, there are 129864880 Books in the World. Even if we take a thousand books to read in one lifetime, there’s still a bundle left to read.
People you meet in your life have different *tastes* in books. Meaning that they’re skilled at what they read. Different book genres create different skill sets in people.
In order to understand them all — read more books. Get out of your comfort zone and try reading books you don’t actually prefer. It’s better to have little knowledge than to have no knowledge at all.
In order words: book reading is like a race. You never know if the person sitting next to you is reading a book that could make you a successful person. You can only know if you try and read it first. Yep.
How to apply?
Try exchanging books with your friends to understand them better. Try asking people what their favorite book is to judge their personality.
Although it looks like an innocent question, book genres tell a lot about people.
Next, exchange books. If you cannot buy them, start shuffling them. The more new books you read, the more you’ll understand the people around you.
For once, A) start borrowing or B) buy books. And one day, those dull-tanned pages will make you proud.
2. Fitness equipment
Your mind is a magnet if you:
- Look for positivity. You’ll attract good luck
- Look for negativity. You’ll attack bad luck
Now, attracting and detaching is a painful plan. How about we shart shedding the negativity every day despite receiving it or not?
This way, you can walk on a linear rope. Whatever happens during the day will immediately flush out through the sweat you’re causing in the gym. When fitness is a process, you’re no more concerned about negativity and positivity. Your influence outshines it all.
Fitness equipment is that important. Whether you have them in your home (like me) or go out to a gym, both help strengthens your mind and soul.
How to apply?
I love how I always wrap my day per gym timings. I work out for 45 minutes early in the morning. Also, every six months, I invest in new fitness equipment.
I have:
- Dumbbells
- Resistance bands
- Elliptical
- Sauna tracksuit
- Wrist braces for heavy lifting
Investing in fitness equipment is never a bad idea, says Lennox Morrison. I’m no longer concerned about wasting my dollars on fitness equipment if it makes me happy. This is something I use daily, unlike clothes.
Not only fitness equipment, but investing in other things helps too: healthy food, fruits, and guilt-free items.
3. Writing
I can’t lie when I write — Emma Schippers
Sure, we all love to write, but we all started somewhere. I habitually write letters to myself, topped by wax seal stamps.
I plan to only open them once in my life — when I’ll feel low. So every time I feel sad, I resist the urge to open the sealed letters saying:
“No, not today. I might have the worst days afterward.”
This sways a positive attitude. I shove all the letters inside the chamber box, hoping for a day to open them. I don’t care about tomorrow, but it made me stronger today.
Writing does the same, to all of us. It helps to unleash your mind, so you write everything down. Once written, it cleans your mind and enables you to breathe properly.
How to apply?
Write daily — if you have trouble understanding yourself.
Then take time out every month and read your words written in the journal.
- Find strength in your words
- You’ll feel happy
Writing, it turns out you can compile into books, says createmybooks.com. Although that depends on what you’ve written, there’s a possibility you can put it to work.
Najwa Zabien writes poetry. Rupi Kaur too. Even if you plan to write a poem every day, you can compile a poetry book collection of your own.
See… the best investment (ever).
4. Friends
Surround yourself with people who are going to lift you higher.
Make it a practice: find good friends. Now when I use “find” instead of “make,” it is because I know we have (many) acquaintances. All of them are not your friends.
Instagram, Facebook, and all these social websites are your cues to making friends. Where people are going on late-night dates, connect with friends that will lead you through life.
Start small. Invest in that one good friend.
Remember that God always accompanies you with a true partner. It’s there. You just have to uncover — really.
How to apply?
Search for like-minded people in the group. It’s a victory even if you find one out of sheer influence. Get inspired by that friend and share your plan and goals.
When you share your goals with your friends, the fear of failing peer pressure never lets you quit — research by Maharshi Dayanand University suggests.
However, Wendy wood claims when we tell our goals to somebody else, it becomes a “shared goal.” Some people end up losing interest. She offers to keep a good balance between goals you want to share with others and goals you want to complete in isolation.
Know yourself to act the right way. Hmm…
5. Experiences and goals
- If you hate power, you don’t quite understand it
Experience is power. It shows you a fine line between right & wrong. The best combination? When experience and intuition align.
For people like me, in their (20s), are often guided by their intuitions. Mainly because we don’t have experience.
People think it’s bad to be an old fellow. But, experience is power, and age makes that possible. If you believe you’re too old to start something new, you don’t use your power enough.
With age, the “energy bracket” decreases. If you keep thinking you’re old, you’ll actually be by the time you’re ready. True.
How to apply?
There’s no shame in saying:
- Yes, I’m 20, and I know more about life than other people
I might not have experience, but I definitely have intuitions flowing from the books.
Experience — being able to make decisions from repetitive events. Use them rightfully. If you’re at an age where you can’t do something, guide the young children.
Use your experiences as a flag to guide others. Put your experiences to work, either way.
Final thoughts:
Success is simple: do what’s right, the right way, at the right time.
Invest in some good habits, goals, and above (5) tips. The sooner you invest in these habits, the sooner you’ll be able to discover some more.
First things first. Practice these investment tips and promise to never give up.
