5 Extra-Ordinary Lessons From My Ordinary Life

Because In every Extra-Ordinary There is a Little Extra of the Ordinary.

What if you learn the most important life lessons without vandalizing your own life? What if you get answers to all your compound questions delivered at your door step?

Congratulations, you have arrived at just the perfect place. Please don’t take me as a stereotypical seller going door to door to sell her product, it’s just that after being through so many grinding situations, I value peace and contentment like no one else.

Grab a notepad and a pen and let’s get started.

1. The Precious Gem of Acceptance

Acceptance is undoubtedly the most brutally ignored aspect of our lives. It keeps floating around, right in front of our eyes but we ignore it in a very sophisticated fashion.

But we fail to realize that it is that door in your life which you HAVE to open, if you wish to make your life better. Didn’t understand? Let me explain.

How many of us are really happy with the way we look, the way we dress, the salary we earn or the house we live in. Half of our life is spent on correcting ourselves rather than accepting our-self.

I can vouch on this as from the day I accepted that my parents were never going to come back, and I have to be the sole owner of my life, my mind has been in tranquility.

I am clear as to how I will find solutions to any problem, rather than sitting and cribbing over what I don’t have, or how things would have turned out if certain people were there to help me.

I take the matter into my own hands, because I am aware I have no choices in life, which cuts all the unnecessary crap.

2. Be your Own Puppet Master

Have you ever witnessed a puppet show? They are quite entertaining I tell you. The glitter, the costumes, the drama, the music, that’s quite a scene to witness.

In fact at one point, you would want to hold the puppet strings and experience the thrill yourself.

Just imagine if those lifeless puppets can provoke the dominant temperament in you, then how much YOU as a live puppet would be provoking others, especially those who live to control other people’s lives and play with it.

Yes, you got it right, I am talking about Dependency.

We meet several people in our lives and some are already a part of it. 50% of our life lets say is owned by our family but the rest lies with us.

But when we meet the so-called authoritarians, we willingly giving a huge chunk of the life owned by us for them to control. And then what follows is a series of complaints about how disappointing life is.

Of-course, it will be disappointing, because you are not living it the way you want. There cannot be a bigger helplessness than seeing your own life being controlled by people who are not even going to be with you forever.

So what is all the drama for?

Stand up right now and take full charge of your life and be ready to face its consequences.

3. Protect your Self-Respect above all.

Everyone Comes with a price tag, it’s called SELF RESPECT.

Most of our sufferings come from wrong selection of people and the simple reason behind this is that we feel that we are not worthy of the best things in this world. We let people step on our self-respect as if it were a door mat which is not the case.

Just as ‘charity begins at home’ so does the process of enhancing our self-respect. If we can’t respect ourselves in the first place, we do not have a right to expect the same from the people around us.

So trying to share some ground rules to earn and maintain our self-respect but, in the language of Idioms.

  • Let other people know that they cannot ‘Beat around the bush’ especially about things that matter to you the most.
  • Let them know that they are ‘Barking up the wrong tree’ because you were not born to be objectified.
  • Let them know that it is not cool to ‘Bite off more than you can chew’.
  • Let them know that you follow the ‘ You can’t have your cake and eat it too’ ideology.
  • And finally do let them know that ‘The ship has sailed’ where you once allowed them to govern your life and ultimately destroy it.

4. Believe and the Battle is Half Won!

You don’t believe me, do you? Ah! who am I kidding. You don’t even believe in yourself, how the heck will you believe in me.

But that’s okay with me and in fact I am sorry. I didn’t mean to attack you directly, but please ask yourself, have you ever trusted yourself completely? And the answer is NO.

Hey, I didn’t say anything, that’s your conscience speaking by the way. I am just showing you the mirror to your own conscientious.

Well the caveat here is whatever you believe in, the universe faithfully attracts it towards you.

It is the ‘Law of Attraction’

It simply means that your thoughts whether negative or positive have the power to attract good and bad life experiences.

So much so that many psychological experts and even the great learned yogis swear by the phrase ‘Mind your thoughts’ and not ‘Mind your tongue’.

Hence, it is important to believe that you already have whatever you are looking for. With this practice, two things can happen:

  1. You will sooner or later achieve what you were looking for,

OR

2. You will feel so gratified with what you already have, that you may not want anything else in your life anymore.

5. Become the Search Engine of Happiness Yourself.

If I ask you what makes you happy, you will dive into the memory box and take out words like, work, family, friends, shopping, travelling, and what not.

But none of you will ever reply ‘’ME’’. It’s Me who makes ME happy. All our life, we have tried to rest on an external source of happiness which is not the right way to go about it.

For example, I personally used to feel that I would be happy IF, my efforts were acknowledged more at my job, I got into a relationship with the one I loved, I was able to shed some extra kilos, or if I got a heavier paycheck.

Gosh! So many if’s in our lives and I marvel at thought that we are still alive with so much burden on our souls each day.

We spend most of our lives searching for happiness in external sources whereas the truth is that our happiness lies right within us. It is that never ending treasure you can manoeuvre all your life and yet it will never get extinguished.

In fact, let others come to you to take a dive into your deep pool of happiness, but with One condition that they never get a right to dump their trash in your beautiful universe.

The Bottom line:

You have enough of everything that you can ever need, you just have to Accept, Take charge, Protect, Believe and ultimately be the master of your own happiness. Imbibe these lessons You will stop complaining FOREVER about how unfair life has been.

You all should know that this is my second lease on life and therefore I dare take it lightly.
