5 Excuses to Ruin Your Everyday Life

Don’t even think about it

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.”― Jordan Belfort

Every day is a different story, sometimes we had a bad day, and we want to forget about it. We don’t even realize we are still holding those bad experiences in our minds.

Hence, we end up holding those thoughts which make you feel bad. And those thoughts unconsciously tend to influence your daily decisions.

So the question should be — how to clean your mind and clarify your ideas to start a new day?

You have to keep the focus on the task on hand, and in the different projects or goals you have without being attached to those yesterday’s thoughts.

It’s the truth that everything shapes who you are. The experiences in the past and the people you spend time with and the things you saw. All of them influence in who you are at the moment, if you are aware of it is a good start.

When the outcome is not according to our plan, we all tend to give excuses. Suppose we can’t reach a goal or a project which is coming. We right away start to look for someone’s fault instead of seeing close to us. In short, we never see into ourselves.

Let’s see what excuses you must avoid doing in your daily routine. Doing so, clarify your mind to start a new day with positive thoughts and thinking that you can reach your daily goal if you are committed to it.

I’ll get to it someday

“At the end of the day, let there be no excuses, no explanations, no regrets.”― Steve Maraboli

This is the worse excuse that someday never will come. Read slowly, please, That day may never come.

This is the one you use when there’s something you say is important to you but not actually important enough to commit to. Someday is not a day of the week, and it never will be.

If it’s important — if it’s really important — give yourself a deadline to finish it. Otherwise, no one really wants to hear about it.

I need more feedback first

You don’t need permission to do what you want. If you believe the value of the things you do comes from other people thinking they’re great, it’s unlikely you’ll ever find the courage to do something that you think is great.

The most important risks you take in life will always depend on your own opinion of them more than others.

I wish I could do that, but…

The truth is that you can do whatever you want if you really commit to it. And really think about how much you really want.

Here’s a good rule of thumb for understanding anyone’s real feelings: discard all words that come before “but.”

  • I’m not a racist, but…
  • Not to be rude, but…
  • That’s all great, but…
  • I wish I could, but…

It’s not the right time

This is the one you use when you’ve finally fessed up to what you actually want from your life but haven’t made the commitment to take action yet. Instead of just owning up to your own fear, you blame your inaction on the imperfect circumstance:

  • The economy is bad.
  • I have too many other things going on.
  • I don’t have enough education/whatever yet.
  • I need to talk to an expert first.

There may very well be some things you need to take care of before it is the right time. But, in the meantime, don’t make excuses about things you can’t control, keeping you from doing it.

The right time is an illusion created in your mind.

No one really cares what You think.

No one cares what you think. At least for now. You haven’t given anyone a reason to care what you think. And no one’s going to care what you think until you prove that what you think is valuable to anyone else.

But fear not, there are two ways to fix this:

  1. Stop caring what anyone else thinks.
  2. Change what you think to be valuable to others.

Final Thought

Be honest with yourself. Inside of you, you know the truth. When you are giving excuses for everything, you are writing in your unconscious mind that it is someone’s fault but not yours.

Maybe that was a lesson that you should have learned instead of avoiding it. Remember that perfect sunny day when everything is ready for you to decide and take action will never come.

Think about it.
