5 Blog Posts Ideas for When You Have Nothing to Write About

You can use them multiple times

When you write for a living, you can’t afford to have writer’s block. There’s no time to cry over your lack of inspiration — you have to write something. Something great, on top of that. No pressure at all.

Here’s a list of blog post templates that you can use and re-use whenever you lack inspiration or don’t know what the hell to write about.

1. Share your favorite quotes

Honestly, I came up with this one on a lazy, tired, and desperate day. I had no inspiration whatsoever so I decided to share some of the most meaningful quotes I keep in my journal, along with a paragraph of what the quote means and how it can make my readers’ lives better.

Surprisingly, this is one of my most well-performing articles so far!

2. Share your goals

People like to read about ambition and goal-setting: it’s motivating. Plus, this type of post is deeply personal and will allow your audience to get to know you better. Don’t forget to add some of your very own productivity tips, habits, and best practices. It’s always inspiring to see what fellow writers are doing.

Pro tip: you can also do a “30-day challenge” and publish your pledge post in a publication dedicated to this type of challenges, like this one.

3. A curated list of articles

There’s so much content on Medium, and on the Internet in general. Save your readers some time by doing a curated list of the best articles on a topic (success, marketing, fiction writing, character development…).

For each article, write the main takeaways so it saves them even more time.

4. Share your reading list

What’s on your bookshelf, and why? Tell us what these books are about, where you got them, why you bought them and why you want to read them. You could even use affiliated links so you earn a small commission if your readers buy one of the featured books.

5. Takeaways from a course

Let’s get real: most people want to get smarter but no one wants to put their time and energy into it. Learn a new skill (speed-reading, screenwriting, UX design…) by taking a course and do a listicle with the most important things you learned. Share what’s essential to understand the basics of the concept.

You can so the same with books and podcast episodes. Give your readers an opportunity to learn a new skill in five minutes or less.

Conclusion

These templates are super easy to implement, and you can use them multiple times — but keep in mind that you must deliver value. Your audience reads your work to leave with actionable takeaways, so teach them something, save them time, give them something they can use.
