4 Ways to Rewire Your Brain for More Happiness and Positivity
You can change your negative thinking through self-awareness
As we move further into this NEW Year — what intentions have you set? For me, one that I focus on daily is rewiring my brain. I am a firm believer that you can change your thoughts and therefore change your life.
Does this resonate with you?
I have shared many times, and will continue, as experts say that repetition is the key: You have the ability to change that negative thinking into a more positive view. This is regardless of your circumstances and even the circumstances in the world.
Through the process of self-awareness, you can make a more joy filled life for yourself.
And this is something you need not feel guilty about! I’ve heard many share that they feel guilty with what is happening in the world and therefore they should feel sad not happy.
Can you relate?
If so, I’m here to share with you that the world NEEDS to have light and love spread around!
The more joy you can share with others, the more we can make changes in the world. We raise our vibration, we influence the vibration of other people in our lives and collectively bring more positivity to ‘our’ world — and therefore ‘the’ world.
Think about this — if you walk around like a downer, your focus will become on more things to feel ‘down’ about. It’s the RAS — Reticular Activating System — that part of your brain that weeds out what’s going on to bring you more of what you are focusing on.
As an example, say you want a new car — and in a certain color. You feel that you will be unique as you haven’t seen many on the road. AND then your RAS sets out to show you ALL the ‘red corvettes’ (as an example) that are out there.
Or anything you want — notice how you start to see it more and more.
And that’s the same with either what’s deemed wrong in your world or the world and what’s deemed right. If you want to see the problems, you will see many. If you want to see the helpers or the solutions — your attention on this will bring that result.
I’ve spent time in the past living with the problems and lower energy and all it did was make me feel more depressed…
…Once I learned I had a choice — I decided to chose finding the ‘good’, the more positive energy and bring that into my life.

This is a daily process on this journey of self-awareness. It’s not a one and done (wouldn’t that be nice). And it doesn’t have to be deemed hard — in fact, I feel it was ‘harder’ living in that lower energy than a higher one.
I feel better and happier — regardless of the outside world because my feelings are an inside job.
How does that statement sit with you — does that sound selfish or like I’m not living in reality? If so, that lets you know where your energy is. And where your attention goes — energy flows. What good is it for me to be down in the dumps regarding any life circumstances? I don’t want to be stuck in the problems, as I once was.
I have better health and over all well-being with this uplifted mindset.
And I invite you to join me on this journey spreading more love and light into this world. We need it now especially in these times.
So how do you make the shift?
I have a few tips to share from Natalie Ledwell, the co-founder of Mind Movies:

1.Mindfulness Meditating — This practice has been shown to increase your hippocampus which affects your emotions, learning and memory. And it reduces the part of the brain associated with anxiety and stress, the amygdala.
2. Daily Positives — Spend time each day looking for at least 3 positive things and at the end of the day take time to reflect on them — and what caused them to happen. By mindfully celebrating some small wins, it has an effect of igniting joy and powering motivation.
3. Do a Good Deed — And do so without expecting credit. Random acts of kindness will shift not only your ability to feel more joy, but will bring joy into someone’s day. Could be someone you know or a stranger — what will you chose to do?
4. Daily Shout Outs — Spend time each day intentionally looking for ways to compliment a friend, family member, co-worker or stranger. You’ll raise your vibration as you bring a smile to their face. I personally love to do this with patients at our office — it raises the whole vibration of the office. I’m sincere not fake and do not do it for everyone. When I see something I like about someone, I share. Great sweater? Hair color or style? Smile? Share it!
Life is going to happen — we cannot get rid of the stressors, what we can do is look at it with a NEW view. The struggle comes from the meaning we give to what is happening. And even the thought that what is happening shouldn’t be happening. We do not have any control over the outside forces.
All we can control is ourselves and whether we react in the same old way or act in a NEW way.
The choice is yours.
Why not take one of the tips and apply it each day for a week and see what you notice? Then you stack them — don’t stop when the week is done.
What if…. in the next 30 days you can feel better? What do you have to lose — and most importantly, what can you gain?
You’ve taken care of everyone else, now learn how to take care of you. Because when you take care of yourself, everything else falls into place.
