4 Traits Of People Comfortable In Their Own Skin
Learning these traits is the key to our happiness
Being comfortable in our own skin is something that a majority of people strive for. There is nothing better than being so content with who you are that external validation is never required.
There are some common traits that all confident people share that can guide us to become comfortable within our own skin too.
1. Lead by example
One important factor of a confident person is that they teach others how they would want to be treated.
They are able to identify what they will and will not tolerate. This is because they have a healthy relationship with themselves and they are able to put boundaries in place.
2. The treatment of others
Being comfortable in your own skin doesn’t only benefit yourself but it will reflect in the way you treat others too. When someone has a healthy relationship with themselves they are able to form healthy relationships with others.
Just because someone is comfortable in their own skin, it doesn't mean they think they are better than others. If anything they support others because they know it doesn't make them feel any better to tear someone else down.
3. Unsolicited comments
Dealing with unsolicited comments is a pain, but not for someone who is self-assured.
Comments from others just roll off their back and do not affect them or their opinion of themselves. It is hard for others to try to bring down someone like this and any effort to do so is fruitless.
They know who truly has their back and what comments are for their best interests and which ones are just to knock their confidence.
4. Stay true to themselves
When someone is so sure of themself, they never feel the need to change for others. They remain authentically themselves and if someone doesn’t like it, they don’t need that in their life.
Being unapologetically authentic comes naturally to them because what is the point of constantly changing to please others?
It is hard work to be confident within ourselves, especially in a day and age where a standard level of beauty, productivity, and status have been pushed on us for decades. We have been taught that there are certain ideals that we should adhere to and if we don’t we are considered unattractive or failures.
There was once a time when these things didn’t matter at all and sometimes it helps to go back to this way of thinking before all these so-called perfect ideals were being shoved down our throats.
Unlearning these allows us to embrace who we are and where are at in life. There is nothing more beautiful than people who realise that they are perfect as they are, and what is the definition of perfect anyway? Being perfect is overrated. Embracing imperfections is the key to happiness.
