4 Things I failed To Achieve In January 2024
And Looking Forward to Try Harder to Build Better Habits
As we all know, various good habits are the key to lead us toward successful life. When we talk about habits, one thing must be very straight forward that not all habits are good and vice versa.
I am not the person who loves making resolution at the very beginning of the year.
In fact, I think if you want to make any resolution, make it right away, whenever that thought crosses your mind. Because, it’s very easy to postpone difficult things and it’s very difficult to prepone hard things which can eventually give you good results.
In this article, I am going to focus on few activities which I thought I would almost perform everyday. But, the first month of 2024 wasn’t collaborative at all.
However, I still have more than 10 months to successfully achieve positive results by strengthening my habit building game.
Here are 5 things I failed to bring to fruition and I will constantly try to improve without looking back:
Reading More📘
I had a goal of reading more books in January, but I failed to achieve it.
I was too busy with work and other obligations, and I often felt too tired or distracted to read. I realized that I need to make some changes in my reading habits if I want to read more and enjoy it.

Here are two techniques that I will try to improve my reading:
- First, I will set a reading timer for 20 minutes every day. This will help me to start reading regularly and build up my reading stamina. I will read anything that interests me, whether it is fiction, non-fiction, or poetry. I will also try to read in a quiet and comfortable place, away from any distractions.
- Second, I will join a book club or a reading challenge. This will motivate me to read more and to finish the books that I start. It will also give me an opportunity to discuss the books with other readers and to discover new genres and authors. I will look for a book club or a challenge that suits my reading preferences and goals.
I hope with the help of techniques like these, I will be able to read more books this month and beyond.
Reading is not only a great way to learn new things and to escape from reality, but also a fun and rewarding activity that can enrich my life. 📚
Being Consistent While Learning a New Skill
I Started to learn Front End Web Development in December 2023.
I learned html and CSS up to intermediate level and then I was jumping into the world of JavaScript, which is a must have programming language when it comes to Frond End side.

But, again I failed at being consistent. I often skipped my practice sessions or got distracted by other things, such as going for a movie, playing video games, etc.
I realized that I need to change my habits and mindset if I want to master this skill.
Now, I am going to improve my consistency with,
- First, I will set clear and realistic goals for myself. I will break down the skill into smaller components and focus on one at a time. I will also set deadlines and track my progress. This will help me to stay motivated and focused.
- Second, I will join an online community of learners and developers. I will seek feedback, advice, and support from others who are learning or working on the same skill. I will also share my work and challenges with them. This will help me to learn from others, overcome obstacles, and stay accountable.
I hope that by doing this, I will be able to learn Front End Web Development and create amazing websites and applications. 🌐
Please let me know if you feel I should add anything to boost my learning. I look forward to hear from you all.
Working Out More
I wanted to work out more this month, but I didn’t do it. I often put it off, made excuses, or lost interest in my workouts. I have this good habit of waking up early (Thanks to my work schedule which begins at 8am). Hence, I always prefer to do some light exercises at home for 10–12 minutes only.

But, I thought of increasing this time limit up to 20–25 minutes a day. Which I did in the first week of January 2024, but I skipped few days in the month and now I am back at 10 minutes exercise (Which is better than nothing I thought).
I realized that I need to find more fun and motivation in exercising.
Hence, I decided to make a workout plan that fits my time, likes, and goals. I will pick activities that I enjoy and that challenge me. I will probably shift it towards evening time of the day.
I will keep reminding myself that, working out is not only good for my body and health, but also for my mood and well-being. 💪
Managing My Expenses
I have to admit that I was not very good at managing my expenses. Though I was saving a little from my overall income, I did not save enough for emergencies, and I had no plan for the future.
Also, I started making some investments in late 2023, due to which I was having lot of trouble organizing and managing my income wisely.
But I decided to change this situation and improve my financial habits in 2024. I read this very famous book called “The Psychology of Money” — by Morgan House. Through which, I gained more clarity about how money works and how our emotions towards money can play vital role while making different money decisions.
But how I am going to improve my money spending habits? Here are few valuable lessons I learned from the book I mentioned above.
I will keep coming back to these lessons and try to implement them in my life as I grow.
Moreover, 5 basic but very crucial things I will follow forever:
- Making a budget and stick to it.
- Tracking income and expenses, and cut down on unnecessary spending.
- Save at least 15% of my total monthly income.
- Living below my means and avoid lifestyle inflation.
- Looking for more investing opportunities'. Buying more assets rather than liabilities.
