4 Reasons You Should Keep (And Love) Your Job And Still Live Your Dream Life

Your corporate life won’t stop you from chasing after your dreams.

Quitting your 9–5 job does not guarantee “more time”

In 2016, I quit my day job to start making money online. I felt like an underpaid healthcare provider who thought that my job was keeping me from something that I enjoy doing.

I made more money online than I did when I was working in the hospital. But I also ended up working longer hours. I liked what I was doing but at the end of the day, it felt like I did it to earn money because I did not have a job.

It wasn’t anything like having more time to do what I love doing.

My work-life balance was a mess and I became unproductive whenever I tried to fix it.

So stop making excuses to yourself.

Your 9–5 job is no good reason for you not to start working on your dreams. If anything, it should give you the motivation you need to move forward. It gives you the resources you need to climb up as you learn a thousand different things.

Getting away from it does not mean being able to focus on working toward your dreams.

It is quite the opposite.

Your 9–5 job guarantees more time to do what you love doing. It provides you with health insurance, retirement plans, regular income and other benefits. This means you don’t have to worry about these things while working on what you love. You may not have as much time.

But you can always make time.

Working towards your dream while having a day job is all about time management. You don’t give up one for the other.

You make time for both.

Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.

Where you learn the most valuable lessons from

Your unique experiences from your day job is not something you can learn in school or books.

If you start your own business, you will know how to treat your employees well if you once worked for someone. Your colleagues also put you into different situations that teach you what you need to know about social skills. And if you get lucky, these people become your friends.

Your good days and bad days at work make life a good ride.

Somewhere out there, someone wishing for that job

The covid-19 pandemic taught us to value our jobs.

A lot of people were laid off. Companies around the world could not afford to employ people. Not everyone has the opportunity to work from home.

Whether there’s a pandemic or not, never take your job for granted.

You will miss your job

I quit my former jobs because they were terrible.

Despite this, I admit that I miss some things that involve my previous jobs — driving to work and passing by specific places, meeting patients even if they can get bad-tempered, my co-workers, and a lot more.

However, I knew there were better opportunities for me. I was not to stick to a job only because I like the drive to work, or that I was attached to my patients or co-workers.

It’s never an easy decision to make and you will need to weigh a lot of things out.

The only time you should quit your job is if it no longer serves you.
