4 Reasons Why Taking a Break is a Must While Managing Your Time

Today’s the time to change your tomorrow (Day:- 5)

Photo by Serghei Savchiuc on Unsplash

Greetings,

Welcome you all to the fifth-day prompt of the “Time Management” theme. In this post, I am sharing one of the mistakes that I made during the initial days when I started managing my time. I want you all to not make the same mistakes as I made.

When I was a beginner, I avoid taking breaks between the tasks to save some more time. If you are the one who thinks the same then you are making big mistakes. Are you an employee who avoids lunch breaks to handle the workloads?

If yes, then I have to say you are not managing your time well. We are not computers that can run 24×7. We need to take a break. Taking a break is a necessary thing while managing your time.

“If you’re tired, learn to rest not quit.”

-Unknown

If you get tired then you need rest. It’s completely okay to take a break. It’s important to work hard, but that doesn’t mean you are not allowed to take a break in between.

“In this game, everyone needs a break to refuel, recharge, and jump back in full throttle.”

― Helen Edwards

Here are some of the reasons that will help you to take a break.

5 Reasons Why You Should Take a Break

1. It will improve your focus and concentration

When you take a break, you will be relaxed. You feel light and it will improve your focus and concentration. After working hard, your mind gets tired and it affects your concentration power. Your mind needs to relax to be focused again.

“Rest your mind. Calm your heart”.

-Unknown

Give some rest to your mind and heart.

2. We all need “Me time” to enjoy ourselves

I have learned this hard way. To manage my time, I sacrificed my “Me time”. I want all of you not to do the same. Never sacrifice your “Me time”. No one else has the right to your time, you have the only right on your “Me time”. To manage your time, you don’t have to be worried all day about finishing your tasks at a particular time. Making some time for yourself will help you to be healthy. Just relax and enjoy yourself.

You deserve to spend some time with yourself.

3. Your brain will get a time to be a more creative

When your brain gets some time, you will come back to your work with more creativity.

Whenever I am frustrated and don’t feel like working, I take a quick nap. It helps me to be more creative.

“For the love of your work, take a break!”

-Unknown

4. Regained all your energy after a small break

Consistency will help you to manage time, and taking a break will help you to survive on your goals for the long term.

When you start getting burned out from your work if you continue to work it will affect your efficiency and results. If you will take a break. You will regain all your energy and come back fresh to start your work again.

If you think that you waste so much time while enjoying your break time. Then, I have a solution for you. Try to make your break time, relaxing and productive as well. You don’t need to plan your breaks to make them productive, follow your heart and do what you like to do.

How to make your break time productive

  • Take a walk in a nature
  • Meditate
  • Clean your room
  • Do painting/ writing
  • Read your favorite book
  • Exercise
  • Spend time with your loved ones
  • Take a shower
  • Take a nap
  • Make a salad and enjoy

Taking a nap is my favorite one. Whenever I have some free time, I will take a nap. It helps me to be productive for a long time and also increases my creativity.

Here are some of the unproductive breaks that need to be avoided

  • Don’t use the phone and especially social media
  • Watching YouTube, Netflix
  • Don’t eat junk food
  • Don’t browse shopping sites
  • Don’t gossip

If you have some free time then try to make yourself calm and relax. Don’t involve yourself in any unproductive things that need your mind and attention.

“Find what brings you joy and go there.”

― Jan Phillips
