We writers don’t have an easy life. We have to do mental work which is tougher than physical work. It’s become harder when we are going through bad times in life.

When we are going through the bad times in life, it’s hard to write. It’s hard to even think of different ideas.

We writers have to write something romantic if our clients want, no matter if we just had a painful break-up. We writers have to write about birthdays, no matter if we just lost our loved ones.

Furthermore, we have to write as per our clients’ choices and needs. No matter if we are not working as a freelancer, we have to write about different topics every day to grow.

I have gone through this, so I can understand your pain, my fellow writers.

That’s why this post is all about what I do when I go through a hard time in my life as a writer.

4 Ways To Write When You Are Going Through The Tough Time.

1. Not feel like writing, read

There were days when my mind was empty and my heart was guilty of not being able to write.

I don’t know, but I didn’t have anything to write. I felt like there were no topics left to write about. Likewise, I know every writer feels that.

When I don’t feel like writing, I always read. Reading is the best way to get yourself into writing. Reading inspires you to write.

When I read about different things, my mind comes up with new and innovative ideas.

No matter, if you are not writing just read as much as you can. Reading is the best strategy to start writing.

If you are not feeling like reading other genres, then read your favorite ones.

2. Try free writing

Not in the tough time of my life, I used to do freewriting every day. Many successful writers use freewriting to get out of writer’s block.

When you write without thinking about genres and mistakes, believe me, you will be more creative.

When I don’t have anything to write, I write whatever comes to my mind. At the end of writing, I always had an amazing idea for my next article.

Freewriting will make you free from the pressure of writing. Freewriting will help you overcome writer’s block.

Even if you are going through the toughest time of your life, write down all your feelings. Write all your emotions out.

You will feel relaxed. You will be more confident. Write your heart out first, and then you will be ready to write a masterpiece.

3. Do things that will inspire or motivate you

Writing needs inspiration. You can write until you are motivated. You have to be fully inspired to start writing.

Therefore, do the things that will inspire you. It can be cycling, observing, reading, or just sitting peacefully.

It can be anything. For me, freewriting is the thing that inspired me a lot. Sometimes, I go on walking to boost my creativity.

For you, it can be any motivational video on YouTube that inspires you to write in minutes. Everyone has their own choices of getting inspiration.

4. Join writing clubs/ take a writing course

If you didn’t find any of the three working for you. Here, is the one that makes might help you. Not feeling like writing after inspiring yourself, don’t think about quitting your writing.

You have come so far, so go a little far. Join writing clubs near you. If you didn’t find one. Join online writing clubs. Make different writer’s friends. Talk with them and share ideas with them.

Get feedback on your writing from them. It will help you to improve your writing.

You can also join a writing course to learn more. It will boost your confidence and inspiration for writing.

You can choose your writing course as per your level to master writing. No matter what you are not writing, you are taking one step to improve your writing and that matters the most.

Writing is not an easy job to do. However, if you are determined and willing to do hard work. No one can stop you from becoming the next successful writer like J. K. Rowling.

If you are going through a hard time in life, just go on with it because this shall too pass. Everything will pass no matter whether it’s good or bad.

I hope these ways help you to achieve your writing goals.
