Sure, aspirational podcasts are great, and it’s good to keep up to date with what’s going on in the world, but don’t we have enough doom and gloom in our lives? I’ve recently reshuffled my podcast subscriptions to weed out the motivational listens that made me feel bad about myself, and focus on listens that lifted my mood. Coincidentally my top five are all presented by women!

Happier with Gretchen Rubin

It’s right there in the name! Best-selling author Gretchen Rubin presents this podcast on happiness with her sister Elizabeth Craft. The two explore advice, tips, and tricks to get more out of life and build good habits to improve your overall wellbeing. Alongside weekly Happier podcasts on Wednesdays, there are additional More Happier podcasts every other weekend and two-minute Little Happier casts on Mondays. A great way to start the week!

The Lazy Genius Podcast

Kendra Adachi presents this podcast on how to improve your life the lazy way. Her strategy is not about being perfect, it’s about doing just enough and going easy on yourself. Her tagline is being genius about the things that matter, and lazy about the things that don’t. Episodes tend to be around 30 minutes long, with occasional bonus episodes giving a further dive into a topic.

Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown

Neuroscientist Mayim Bialik gets brutally honest about mental health with a range of celebrity guests. It’s refreshing to hear such open conversations about wellbeing and it’s a real reassurance that whatever you’re going through, you’re not alone. It’s a longer form show with episodes between an hour and an hour and a half long. Recent guests have included Sarah Silverman, Felica Day, Nikki Blonsky, and Matthew McConaughy!

Strippers in the Attic

A little bit different to everything else here. Strippers in the Attic is presented by London strippers Buffy & Heaven. They share hilarious stories from their stripping antics around the world, alongside candid, heartfelt advice on everything from dating to confidence to shoes. Each episode is 30 to 45 minutes long and packed with laughs.

Those are my picks for happiness-inducing podcasts! Do you listen to any of these? What are your favorite podcasts for an uplifting moment? Let me know in the comments.
