4 No Bullshit Ways To Make Life Easier

Hint: Focus on everything but life.

“It just seems like life comes so easy to you”

That’s what my mom and grandma said to me yesterday. Then I thought about why people felt that way about me.

Is it because I got my driver’s license on the first try? Is it because I go to college debt-free? Or is it because I just happen to be at the right place at the right time?

We’ve all had those people in our lives who don’t take life too seriously and make the hard stuff look like leg practice. What’s their secret?

Here are four ways to make life easier for yourself.

1. Stop worrying about dumb shit.

99 percent of the time, we all focus on the wrong things.

I’ve seen college students in my class get super stressed for the final exam to the point where they weren’t sleeping. I’ve seen people ask a million and one questions frantically when they don’t know where they’re going. I’ve seen people break down in tears just because someone called them ugly.

Obstacles are the scum of the earth and they discourage you to death. But why are you letting those obstacles get in the way of your happiness?

So what if someone called you ugly? Let’s pull out their cringy middle-school photos and see who’s ugly now.

I don’t worry about situations like that. All they will get me is more stress and anxiety. And as you grow older, you start to value your well-being more than outside ruckus because you start saying “I’m too old for this” and you don’t give a shit anymore.

Don’t let these obstacles get you down.

2. Understand that everything will be okay.

I used to be so worried about everything.

Will I get a zero on my essay? How am I going to get through this week without having a mental breakdown? Shhh….

Calm down.

I don’t know you, but I know whenever you worry about something, it always ends being for nothing in the end. Most of my greatest worries were exaggerated stress that alleviated itself later on.

So what’s the point of worrying any more?

You’re just going to give yourself a pounding headache and no time for yourself. Everything will be okay, trust me. Getting a zero on your essay one time won’t make or break your entire life.

3. Practice A LOT.

A few weeks ago, I had my driving test.

The cone part is the scariest. If you knock one down it’s an automatic fail.

Not to mention it was pouring rain and my rear-view mirrors were foggy. I also went in the wrong direction at the beginning of the driving course. It seemed like all the odds were stacked against me. I thought for sure I’d fail.

Plus the guy grading me was mean.

It’s a good thing I practiced the cone part of the course months before the test every day. So even in the pouring rain and foggy mirrors, I still managed to overcome and pass the test.

Practice always pays off.

It may seem like life comes easier to certain people, but no. It’s years and years of hard work put in to get to that point.

4. Focus on yourself.

Once you finally start focusing on you and no one else — it’s liberating.

Ever since I started focusing on my writing passion more, life just seems simpler to me. I guess it’s because I have one goal right now — to get better at writing. It’s so clear in my mind that I spend every day writing my butt off to stay on track.

When you stay on track to reach a goal for yourself, the whole world doesn’t matter anymore. You’re only putting energy into yourself and that’s something people don’t do enough.

Be in love with yourself so much that you go on dates with yourself. It’s not weird, yourself will appreciate it greatly.

If we all minded our business and just worked on ourselves more, everyone’s life would be as smooth as melted chocolate. No crunch.

Final Thoughts

Life is a puzzle that no one completely understands yet.

Some easy-goers make it seem like they have the puzzle figured out and there are people with — I don’t want to say this — bad luck who can’t seem to get anything right.

When it reality, it’s pretty simple what the easy-goers do. If you stop worrying about dumb shit, understand that everything will be okay, practice a lot, and focus on yourself, that’s an easier life right there.

Sometimes, life can be a lot easier if you don’t focus on it. That’s the ironic key.
