4 (new) income path for the digital writer who wants financial freedom.
You don't have to wait till you are grey and old
One of the worst mistakes you can make as a writer is to depend solely on client work.
Don't get me wrong. It is good money.
But the reality is that it is a revenue source you have no control over.
Means:
You can get tossed aside whenever the corporate entity feels you are no longer needed.
Trust me, I've lost a couple in the last few years, and I swore never to let that happen to me again.
Currently, here are the new income sources I’m building (leveraging) as a digital writer.
- Digital products:
I have written two eBooks and one course on copywriting and persuasion.
Since I've not promoted them, I've made a little money from them.
But now, I'll be promoting them to earn a controlled income.
2. Paid Publications.
There is a reason I chose to write and publish on Medium daily for an entire year.
Beyond the money, I'll meet and connect with amazing people from all over the world.
That connection, if nurtured well, can translate into many things.
3. Affiliate.
I tested out this income model last year, and I loved it.
I don't run ads or do anything people here do.
I refer products or services when asked and get a cut when a purchase is made.
4. Leverage.
I am a fractional CMO to a health business owner.
My work involves writing copy, suggesting ad angles, and just about anything related to marketing.
So far, this income model has made me about $200 this year.
At scale, I know we'll do more.
Before I go, I'd love to say this:
Everything good is worth spending time on. The reward is in the process.
If you want freedom, put your back down and get to work.
It is not roses and blues out here.
