Music is medicine for me — and it appears there’s some scientific backing to support this statement. In fact, in a meta-analysis that included more than 400 studies, it’s been found music improves immune function and lowers stress (Novotney, 2013).

I’ve hand-picked my favorite meditation music from YouTube — I wanted to share them since they help me with…well, everything.

From studying to practicing yoga, to meditating, to reciting my personal mantras, to writing stories on Medium, these meditation songs have been with me through it all!

I hope these bring you as much peace as they do for me.

1. Heart Chakra Healing Hang Drum Music

This 3:33:33 soundtrack is sure to help you unwind. I am currently living on a busy street with lots of traffic, so I find this soundtrack helps to cover the noise without being a nuisance. Whether it actually helps open my heart chakra is to be determined!

2. Indian Background Flute Music: Instrumental Meditation Music

The earthy whispering of the flute in this track always creates an emotive experience for me. I tend to listen to this meditation music before bed after a long day while doing some stretches.

3. Throat Chakra Healing Hang Drum Music

The metallic hang drum tingles in my ears through my body when I listen to this throat chakra healing meditation music. This is a great track for studying or achieving a “writer’s high” since it’s upbeat without inundating the senses with too many musical instruments.

4. Bansuri Flute Music — Serene Mood

The wavering flute notes strike a special place in my heart when I listen to this song. Get ready to turn the lights down low, practice deep breathing, and access the depths within yourself with this meditation music.

Wrapping Up

Music has a powerful effect on our wellbeing — it even affects our immune system and stress response. I hope these soundtracks lower your cortisol levels, heighten your concentration, and help you achieve a meditative state.
