A recipe for sustainable self-esteem

In life, confidence is the key to opening many doors.

Whether it is our social life, romantic relationships, or career path, believing in yourself elevates the way people perceive you, and lets you get to places that you want to be.

So since confidence plays an important role in our lives, increasing it is essential to improve the quality of our life.

To do that, we can start by observing the confident people, and thus today I’d like to share with you 4 habits of truly confident people, and these are:

1-They know when not to take things too seriously

2-They are aware of their abilities

3-They know limits are mostly in one’s mind

4-They are not bound by their comfort zone

“What could we accomplish if we knew we could not fail?”

― Eleanor Roosevelt

1-They know when not to take things too seriously

Life can be very burdening when one takes things way too seriously, and forget to have fun. Of course, there are times where seriousness is required, but it is a very rare occurrence.

So one of the habits of truly confident people is to know when not to take things too seriously, and this is important because when we allow ourselves to feel relaxed, it results in us avoiding to overthink, and thus we feel freer to be ourselves.

“Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.” –Elbert Hubbard

2-They are aware of their abilities

Each one of us has our own set of skills and abilities, but unless we are aware of them, it usually does not make any difference if we have them or not.

That’s why one of the habits of confident people is to be aware of their own abilities, and by doing so, they are able to increase their self-esteem due to feeling supported by these gifts.

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” ― Aristotle

3-They know limits are mostly in one’s mind

Ever since we were little, we’ve been taught to limit ourselves.

Yes, sometimes these limits can help us to stay safe, and be protected, but most of the time, they only stop us from fulfilling our potential.

So when it comes to limitations, confident people are aware of the fact that most limitations exist in their minds only, and it is an important realization.

This is because by doing so, they notice that these limits are only the products of their way of thinking, and this realization weakens the power these limits have on them.

“If you can’t face your fears, they become your limitations.” ― Avina Celeste

4-They are not bound by their comfort zone

Our comfort zones may be one of the biggest reasons why we hold ourselves back in life, and so it is important to learn to expand them by not being bound by them.

This practice is not easy for confident people either, but stepping out of your comfort zone once definitely helps you to take the next step. So practicing this often, helps confident people to see beyond their idea of what’s possible, and live life to the fullest.

“Life always begins with one step outside of your comfort zone.” ― Shannon L. Alder

Final thoughts

Confidence is a concept that plays a big part in our lives.

But I believe that being confident is less of a personality trait and more of a life-long process that is sustained by certain habits.

So today I’ve shared with you 4 habits of truly confident people, and these were:

1-They know when not to take things too seriously

2-They are aware of their abilities

3-They know limits are mostly in one’s mind

4-They are not bound by their comfort zone

Thank you for reading.
