4 Bible Verses for Decluttering Your Home
Trusting in God’s plan for an organized life
Does God care about our cluttered surroundings? I believe he does. Clutter on the outside mirrors clutter on the inside, and in order to hear his voice, we need a decluttered soul.
I also believe he cares about the physical clutter in our lives because it causes anxiety and takes up time that could be better spent with him and loving others.
It’s easy to clutter our lives. It happens almost without our knowing it. Over time, possessions and things just seem to take over.
Instead of trying to organize your stuff, why not seek God’s guidance and discern what needs to go?
Here are four suggestions for clearing the clutter and supporting scripture to meditate on as you seek a decluttered and stress-free home.
📖 Seek God’s wisdom and commit to whatever he guides you to.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5–6, NLT)
📖 Divide daunting tasks into manageable objectives, acknowledging the significance of new beginnings. Celebrate the opportunity for new things to enter your life as you make room for God’s abundant blessings by letting go of the things you no longer need.
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? (Isaiah 43:18–19, NIV)
📖 Evaluate your possessions and give generously to those in need. This is an opportunity to give and bless others with your surplus.
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full — pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. (Luke 6:38, NLT)
📖 Don’t get overwhelmed. God doesn’t ask us to do things that evoke anxiety. When you feel like you are in over your head, remember to
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
Surrendering all means being willing to let go of anything that doesn’t add value to our lives. It’s easier to see what those things are as we declutter and make room for more of God’s presence.
