4 After-Work Side Hustles That Can Make You An Extra $3,000 Per Month
No joke… I’ve done them all and they work!

If you’re like me, your days are pretty similar. You get up, go to work for eight hours, get a workout in if you’re lucky, make some dinner, then come home and park your butt on the couch watching re-runs of New Girl until you go to sleep.
Why not spice it up a bit, though? Why not spend your time earning more money so you can finally afford that vacation you’ve wanted to take your family on for years? Doesn’t that vacation sound better than New Girl?
Okay, if you said no to that last question, I won’t blame you… New Girl is actually a great show, but that’s beside the point.
When I am not working my full-time job, I spend my time doing various side hustles. Today, I want to share with you 4 after-work side hustles I’ve used that have helped me make an extra $3,000 per month.
Full disclaimer: I’m not saying you will make $3,000 after your first month, but if you work hard, it’s definitely possible.
1. Medium
Medium is the BEST side hustle out there. Don’t get mad at me for saying that, but that’s my opinion.
Seriously, the fact that there are creators on Medium (a.k.a. Tim Denning) who are making more than $100,000 per year simply from writing articles on the internet is MIND-BLOWING!
While I have not made $10,000+ in one month like Tim Denning, I have made $2,000 in a month. Of the $2,000 I made, $1,800 came from two articles that I had published months earlier.
The thing with Medium is that you never know when an article might catch the algorithm and explode. But, in order to have a chance of that happening to you, you need to be willing to put some content out there.
Honestly, Medium is such an amazing community to be part of. I love writing and would be doing it whether I was making money from it or not, so the fact that it can sometimes make me $2,000 per month is absolutely crazy to think about.
Also, for the record, I do not have any special writing skills. If I can make money on Medium, you can as well. All you need is a good story to tell or some advice that’s going to help others. That’s it…
2. Shipt
I know, I’m weird, but I love grocery shopping. There’s just something relaxing about it for me. It’s also my way of “socializing” with others as I live alone and work from home.
Not to sound pathetic, but I loved grocery shopping even before I lived on my own and didn’t interact with others.
With Shipt, I now make money grocery shopping for people. Not only do I get out of the house, but I’m also shopping for others and not spending my own money. In fact, it’s quite the opposite — I’m making a lot of money.
Most weekends I try to do 6 orders or so. From start to finish (including delivery time), I would say each order takes me 45 minutes to an hour.
Now the cool thing with Shipt is that I make a $5 flat fee for every order, 5% of the cost of the total order, a promotional fee if there aren’t enough drivers to fill the orders, and tips from the customers. After doing the math and looking at my stats, I am making about $30 per hour from Shipt.
That’s how much I make at my full-time job… so the fact that I make that from grocery shopping is amazing.
Plus, with Shipt, I am able to withdraw my earnings at any time, or I can wait until Shipt automatically disburses them (every Friday).
If you like grocery shopping and want to make money from it, I can’t recommend Shipt enough.
3. Freelancing
Freelancing is a great way to make some extra money, and the best part about freelancing is that you can set your rate and create your own schedule.
When it comes to freelancing, I am big on Fiverr. Fiverr is a website that allows you to make money by completing a variety of one-off jobs.
There are so many different gigs you can list and apply for on Fiverr. For example, if you are a graphic designer, you can find different gigs to complete. There are even gigs for lawyers, which seems weird, but I suppose people might need something on the weekends or just don’t want to pay for the cost of a lawyer.
Regardless, there is a job for everybody.

It is completely free to sign up on Fiverr. All you have to do is create a seller profile, list your skills, have a portfolio to dispay of your skills, and then list your cost. From there, buyers will determine if it’s something they want to do or not.
Let’s say you were to get a “gig” (that’s what it’s called on Fiverr) to write a blog post. If you agree to do it for $20, Fiverr will give you $2 before you write the article, and then the rest after you have sent it to the buyer. Fiverr takes 20%, so you would get a total of $16.
Now, there are some jobs that pay BIGGGG money on Fiverr. The top niches are website development, graphic design, copywriting, video marketing, and translation services.
A lot of the work I do is ghostwriting. This means I write an article and sell it to an author, and they use that article on their site and get credit for it.
I don’t write a ton on Fiverr, but I’m still making about $400 per month.
4. Online Courses
My last “favorite” side hustle is making online courses. So far, I have made three courses and have put them up on SkillShare.
SkillShare is like Medium, but it’s for online courses instead. Users pay a monthly subscription fee to get access to an unlimited amount of courses, and teachers make money based on how long a premium member watches their courses for.
The courses you teach can be on anything. For example, my courses teach others how to use Pinterest, how to start a podcast, and how to set goals. Not one of the courses is in the same niche. But still, I am making $600 per month from SkillShare.
The only requirement with your course is that you have a “class project.” For my podcast course, my class project was picking out the equipment for your dream podcasting setup, so nothing that required a lot of skill or time.
If you are doing online courses, you also don’t need to use SkillShare. There are many other platforms like Udemy, or you can use your own platform. The reason I like SkillShare is because it’s exactly like Medium — there is already an existing audience. SkillShare also does all of the promotional work for you, so once you create your course and publish it, you don’t have to do anything with it again.
Hopefully you learned something from this. These are all side hustles you can do after work (or even during work) that can help you make an extra $3,000 per month. They have helped me do just that, and I am confident they can do the same for you.
