Abstract

The poem "A Final Goodbye" captures the emotional journey of two individuals facing the inevitability of change and separation. It speaks to the pain of a broken promise, where decay has touched their lives, leaving their souls in a state of torment. The narrative unfolds with the passage of time, each moment heavy with the weight of their shared experience. Despite the recognition that their parting is inevitable, there is a reluctance to let go, as if by holding on they can prolong the inevitable. A Final Goodbye

Endings and new beginnings

We are being carried away To wherever the wind blows tonight From now on we will forever wander Scarred and blighted

You once promised that decay wouldn’t reach us Forgiveness now weeps Our tormented souls can’t break apart Torn and bleak

Another minute flashes by Neither of us dares to blink Trying to take in the final moment Bloodstained, sordid, and tortured

Let go of my hands now There’s nothing more that can be done Ten more minutes passed right by us And we’re still not blinking
