Summary

The poem "33 Hour Day" by Willow Innershire Sterrick expresses a whimsical desire for a longer day to accomplish more tasks and enjoy life without the constraints of a 24-hour cycle.

Abstract

"33 Hour Day" is a poetic expression of wishful thinking where the author fantasizes about the benefits of having a day that is 33 hours long. This extra time would allow for increased productivity, leisure activities, and personal growth. The poem contrasts the current struggle of fitting everything into a 24-hour day with the idealized scenario of a longer day, which would provide ample time for rest, creativity, and quality interactions with friends. The author laments the hurried pace of life and the inability to reflect amidst the constant ticking of the clock. The poem concludes with a call to action, inviting readers to support the author's work through membership and coffee donations.

33 Hour Day ~ A poem of Wishful Thinking and Fantasy

When will they make a 33 hour day I’d get so much done I’d have time for more fun 25 hours for doing Happiness ensuing 8 hours for sleep What a Quantum leap

I'd feel so refreshed & blessed I'd feel washed, aired and pressed Not just pressed for time 33 hours would be so sublime

There would be time to get everything done Walk in the Sun Cook meals Have fun Rest for a whole hour at lunch Even have time for an extended brunch I'd be so motivated & fuelled I'd be so learned & schooled I could scroll for an hour Take a really long shower Yet still have plenty time left To practice my hobbies to become really deft To research and write To plan and decide To spend time with friends To go for long rides To create a means to an end To set new trends To steep long in bath To make time for laughs To watch the second half That extra time Would be mine

Yet here we are stuck in 24 hour dismay With precious time passing and ebbing away While we attempt to fit it all in Flustered and floundering Wistful on a whim

Multitasking becomes common place We stare at the clicking clock face Trying to match it's every pace Yet in this We rush things or we take too long We need more time to sing our song

With all that's available Where's the time to reflect To have a moment to inspect To see what we need to do next

To do lists a plenty Ticked off or carried over Time to walk the dog To drift away with rover To drive animals like a drover Time to create a look Time to read or write a book Time to do the household chores Often overlooked
