Working 9–5 can suck the energy out of your body. The things you planned to do after work suddenly take Herculean strength to accomplish. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of little things you can do today to boost your mood and make your week a great one.

  1. Make your bed - Even if you’re already halfway through the day. Go and do it now.
  2. Drink a cup of water - Chances are you don’t drink enough as is.
  3. Take a 15-minute stroll - Easy enough, right? No need to dress up in your gym gear, no need to do any strenuous activities. Just walk in your PJs while making a quick call or watching a video.
  4. Snap a photo - While on your walk, take a photo of something that captures your attention.
  5. Breathe in deep. Breathe out. Repeat.
  6. Make your next meal a healthy one - Whether you’re cooking at home or ordering takeout, opt for healthier recipes.
  7. Wash the dishes as soon as you finish eating - Why let the sink pile up?
  8. Learn 5 new phrases in the language you want to learn
  9. Update your LinkedIn profile - Did you take a course recently that you have yet to include in your LinkedIn profile? Go ahead and do it. It won’t take more than a minute or two.
  10. Hold the door open for someone - Once in a while, conduct a random act of kindness without expecting anything in return.
  11. Pick litter from the ground as you come across it - Litter is an eyesore. It doesn’t have to take much to keep our neighborhoods clean.
  12. Leave a review of a recently purchased product for extra points
  13. Delete recent clutter from your camera roll - If you’re anything like me, you’ve got 10,000+ photos sitting in your gallery. Delete unimportant photos or videos downloaded automatically from your WhatsApp conversations.
  14. Make a friend smile
  15. Make a list of things to buy on your next grocery run - No more shopping while you’re hungry, binge-eating, and hating yourself afterward. We’re not doing that in 2022.
  16. Have a No-Spend Day - I challenge you to not spend any money for one day. Think you can do it? Prove it!
  17. Sweep or vacuum the floor - No reason to take days contemplating whether you should do a chore that takes 15 minutes at most.
  18. Light a candle - A scented candle burning after cleaning the house is a different vibe altogether.
  19. Skim that article you’ve been meaning to read
  20. Do sudoku - ’Cause why not?
  21. Have coffee or tea as you sit to watch Netflix or a YouTube video - Do what you normally do with a cup of your preferred beverage for those feel-good effects.
  22. Look up and save a new recipe to try the next time you cook - Have you come across a quick, mouthwatering recipe on TikTok? Save it for the next time you’re in the kitchen and wondering what to make.
  23. Plan your next vacation destination - Pro tip: Get inspiration from Pinterest.
  24. File your taxes - A task that feels like climbing Everest but, in reality, takes 15 minutes max. Eat the frog, get it out of the way.
  25. Give yourself an at-home mani-pedi - Or, if you don’t mind spending, get it done at a beauty salon.
  26. Call your parents - No explanations needed. Just do it!
  27. Wash your makeup brushes - A task that takes minutes but we don’t do often enough.
  28. Donate unworn clothes - You don’t need to spring clean your closet once every two years. If you know you’re never going to wear something, donate it.
  29. Learn to tie a tie - It takes one tutorial video to learn this skill.
  30. Google the difference between crows and ravens- Welcome to the ‘General Knowledge’ Club.
  31. Add lemons to your water - There are at least 20 health benefits of doing this. Such a small adjustment to your routine but one well worth it.
  32. Create the outline of your next blog - If you’re a writer who blogs on the side or as a career, progress doesn’t have to come in the form of a full-fledged, thrice-edited article published on a “Top 10” publication.

Conclusion

My purpose for writing this article is to help you incorporate little things in your day-to-day that will boost your spirits, make you healthier and promote productivity, especially when our draining 9–5 work can take away all energy.

We tend to say small acts of kindness have a big impact. Shouldn’t the same apply to our body, mood, or living space? Think about it…
