31 Positive Words to Help You Transform in October
“October is a symphony of permanence and change.” Bonaro W. Overstreet

Welcome to the golden month of October! I love watching nature transform itself from summer into winter, and October seems to be the month with the greatest changes. Can we replicate these beautiful changes in our lives this month?
While looking at the list of positive words for October (see below), some words stood out for me.
Go-getting
Rarely are things handed to us on a plate. If we want something, we have to go out and get it. We need to work long and hard towards achieving our goals. Financial freedom, for example, is rarely achieved in one day (unless you win the lottery). On the contrary, for most people, it takes years and years of consistent, determined effort.
We live in a world where quick, easy and instant results are often promised. Those promises rarely come true. We need to have a go-getting attitude and create the life we want, step by step. It’s important not to give up — it may take years or even decades to achieve your dream but it will be worth it in the end!
Guilt-free
I’m trying harder to live life in a guilt-free way. This doesn’t mean living without any consideration for others. It means being aware of the times when you feel guilty, asking yourself why you feel guilty, and reframing your guilty thoughts.
Last week, I took an hour and a half off work on a Thursday afternoon. It was a beautiful day and I went for a walk. I ended up in a store, looking at magazines and I suddenly realized I felt guilty. My mind started to tell me:
- “You should be working.”
- “You shouldn’t be enjoying yourself on a work day.”
- “You shouldn’t waste money on a magazine.”
I took a step backwards and questioned these thoughts. In response to the first one, I said: “I have worked hard all week, so why shouldn’t I go out for a walk to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful sunshine?” Instead of feeling guilty, I should be thankful for the freedom I have as a self-employed person working from home. This gives me the opportunity to take a break when I need to.
To the second thought I said, “Why shouldn’t I enjoy myself on a work day? Is enjoyment reserved only for the weekend? I deserve to enjoy myself as much as any other person.” I should be be glad that I’m enjoying this moment of my life rather than spoiling it by having guilty thoughts!
To the third thought, I said: “I’m investing in myself by buying a mindfulness magazine that will help and inspire me.”
Strangely, the feeling of guilt disappeared after that! If you tend to feel guilty about certain things, try challenging your guilty thoughts in this way and see what happens. It’s true — we have the power to change our thoughts and, if we do this, our entire mindset will change over time.
Vibrant
I love the word “vibrant”. The word itself feels like it’s teeming with life. A vibrant person is full of life and energy, moving forward with positivity and enjoying each day, whatever it brings. A vibrant community is a wonderful place to live, filled with shops, cafes and restaurants that each offer something unique and life-enriching.
