Are you joining us?

I am so, so excited! The Ninja Writer 31 Day Challenge starts on Tuesday — May 1. Two more days.

I wanted to take a minute today and let you know what to expect and give you some information to help you get ready to make the most of this thing.

And also ask you to invite any friends who you think might enjoy this challenge to join us by sharing this post. If YOU still need to sign up, you can do it with this form:

What you’ll need:

Pretty easy. Just a notebook and a pen, your computer, and a little time.

We have these notebooks half-off in our shop through the end of today. But really, any notebook will do. If you have an Everyday Notebook or something similar, it will carry you through the six-month write along that’s starting in June. nothing like thinking ahead!

As for time — you’ll want to commit at least ten minutes each to reading and writing, and sometimes ten more minutes to the day’s challenge task. So twenty to thirty minutes a day. A commitment, for sure, but doable. You’ve got this!

Some resources that might help:

Convertkit is offering a free month of their service, no need for a credit card even, for the next two days. I love Convertkit — it’s a powerful, easy-to-use email service that will help you manage your email list. We’re going to talk about mailing lists, and have two amazing webinars with my friend Isa from Convertkit, during the month — so you might want to go check it out. It’s very rare for Convertkit to offer a free month that doesn’t require a credit card. Click here to sign up for your free month.

There are two resources in our shop that you might find helpful — although they aren’t necessary. This is truly a free challenge. But if you want to go a little deeper, either or both of these are a good place to start.

The Magic Bullet is a monthly download of organizational and accountability tools. This month’s Magic Bullet also has a few extras that will enhance your 31 Day Challenge.

The Writer Binder is a 220-page download (or you can buy it all printed and ready to go) full of literally every tool I use when I’m writing. If you add The Writer Binder and an Everyday Notebook to your cart, I’ll send your binder printed and bound in the notebook.

You can get a 20% off coupon here.

What to expect:

In May you’re going to:

  • Work on developing some habits that will help you build a writing life.
  • Start to think of your writing as a business.
  • Strengthen some of your writing skills.
  • Fully develop a story idea and test it to make sure it will hold up a novel.
  • Become a part of the Ninja Writer community.

I really hope you’ll join us.
