300 Words 1/2/2024 | Round 2 A Letter to My Future Self

Hello Future Self,

Please read this on 12/31/2024 and marvel at how far you have come. You just finished your first 300 Word Challenge right before starting in on this letter. A letter to you your future self. The person that I hope is looking back at this letter brimming with the pride of success and accomplishment. Satisfied with a year well spent.

2023 was a year of major life changes and growth. I’ll spare you the details, but there were highs and deep lows. (You’ve lived it. Of course you won’t forget any time soon.) I am just coming off of that year with a sense of hope and direction. I have a sense of clarity about where I want to go. Let’s see how well my predictions played out. Here are my wishes for you my future self:

  1. I hope that you kept up this writing habit and that you can successfully say you have written at least 300 words a day for 366 days straight. I won’t hold it against you if you slip and fall from time to time. Being realistic I will be proud of you if you only accomplished 80% of your 100% goal. In the end I hope that you find your written voice and help many people learn, laugh, and cry (at the appropriate times).
  2. I hope you continue to foster the connections and friendships that you have made and that you continue to make new ones. You have made some pretty great connections on X in 2023. Don’t lose sight of how valuable and important those connections are.
  3. I hope you laugh more and spend quality time with your family. Leaving the security of a steady 9 to 5 job to strike it out on your own is an incredibly bold and stressful experience. Don’t become so consumed with providing for your family that you forget to spend time with and cherish them.
  4. I hope you travel more. You have a big audacious goal. You want to travel and meet your X friends in person. To pick their brains one on one. To laugh. To share insights with them and maybe teach them a thing or two about public speaking. ;) You want to connect face to face for longer than an hour long zoom call.
  5. I hope you move more. You just committed to staying accountable to some form of movement with Tim. You both want to have some form of movement every day. I hope you can say that streak is alive and strong.
  6. I hope you continue to promote kindness, connection, and community. That you lead with value and always try to make your interactions a win for everyone involved.
  7. I hope your vision of a co-working center takes shape. A place all your own that you can foster the community you are building on X and create moments of spontaneity, inspiration, and learning in person.
  8. I hope you accomplish your financial goals. You have a big vision and this year is your time to execute it. Stay diligent. Stay focused, and celebrate each small win.

These are a few of my hopes for you. I hope I’ve made you proud of who you have become in 2024.

Sincerely,

Jeff Your Past Self
