30 Positive Words for June
“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.” Maud Hart Lovelace
When I think of June, I think of sunshine, so “radiant” is a wonderfully positive word to begin this sunny month!
Radiant means:
“sending out light; shining or glowing brightly.” ¹
We’ve all met people who seem to send out light to others. They might not be the most successful people — in fact, they are often very humble. Yet, they seem to shine brightly and stand out — not because of their intellectual brilliance but because they are a genuine person. They are not afraid to be themselves, truly as they are inside, and to show the world exactly who they are.
Purpose
Purpose is another positive word that jumped out at me when I read this month’s list. I’ve written before about finding your purpose. Although some people may instinctively know their purpose and other people discover it at a young age, for others (myself included), finding your purpose is a journey. You start by doing something that resonates with you, and you then move forward step-by-step.
You may change direction many times during this journey, but, in doing so, you discover new things about yourself, other people, life and the world. I have a feeling that finding your purpose is a lifelong journey: a journey that we should enjoy every day as we do the things we love.
Acceptance
Acceptance is something I’m learning very slowly. I’ve learned that accepting your life and the world exactly as it is doesn’t mean that you don’t want to change anything. On the contrary, when you do accept things as they are, it becomes easier to change some things — and sometimes I’ve even found that new opportunities, situations or events pop up unexpectedly soon after I’ve let go and accepted a situation for what it is.
I think acceptance is about letting go of our resistance to life and just going with the flow of life every day. It’s about opening yourself up to the possibility of being taken in a different direction if that’s what the day has in store for you.
If you’re open to new possibilities, you may have a pleasant conversation with an acquaintance or stranger, you may suddenly see a potential solution to a problem you’ve been struggling with, or you may simply sit in the sunshine, enjoying the day.
Persistence
Life is teaching me about persistence. I’ve realized that, in the past, I’ve given up on things far too quickly. I’m learning to carry on and push through the difficult times, looking for solutions to problems but also trusting that a solution will appear when the time is right.
Persistence is linked with self-belief. As your self-belief grows and you become more confident in yourself, your abilities and your purpose in life, you become more persistent. You don’t give up so easily because deep down you know that this is what you want to do with your life, even if you come up against obstacles and challenges.
Heal
We all need time and space to heal. So, give yourself that time and space every day, whether it’s first thing in the morning, in your lunch break or before you go to bed.
Spend some time alone without any distractions and see what happens. If you feel drawn to journaling, meditation, yoga, reading a certain book, or anything else during this quiet time, give it a go. It will help you heal.
I hope that you’ll enjoy the June sunshine and take time to reflect and heal. I hope also that many new opportunities will come into your life as you go with the flow.
