3 Ways to Remedy Your Social Media Addiction
Discover the top ways you can cure your social media addiction.

In this highly digital, media-driven society, many people find it increasingly difficult to get work done without being distracted by social media. I’ve experienced the same problem, whether endlessly scrolling through the newsfeed on Facebook, hitting that tab on Instagram, constantly refreshing it, or binge-watching YouTube videos. However, I’ve been lucky enough to have four excellent tips that have helped me increase my productivity.
1) Delete the Facebook app off your phone and replace it with the messenger app.
This is helpful for the same reason that my first tip is helpful. It keeps you away from the newsfeed. The newsfeed is terrible news. Why do you need to know what your friends are doing every day? There’s no point. Stop wasting time on useless, unsubstantial things and start getting good, meaningful work done.
2) Install the News Feed Eradicator Chrome extension.
News Feed Eradicator is a free extension that blocks your Facebook newsfeed and replaces it with a motivational quote. You can still access messenger and view notifications, but it stops you from endlessly scrolling-which is the main problem we’re trying to avoid here. This is one of the best and most easily implemented strategies to help you to stop wasting time on Facebook.
3) Install the Forest app on your phone.
There are a million videos explain the Forest app. It has also, been downloaded a millions times. I’ll just put the link in the description, so you can check that out.
Oh, and here one last tip-it is possibly the most practical and the most important.
Don’t use social media first thing in the morning.
Try having 1 hour in the morning where you don’t check social media. Don’t look at the internet and dedicate it to starting the day off right. Maybe have a good breakfast, shower, get dressed in something fly, and then, make a To-do list for the day. You could even use that time, to read a book.
Starting the day off right by doing something productive will set the tone for the entire rest of the day. Studies have shown that willpower is a finite resource that depletes throughout the day, so it’s best to get it up and running first thing in the morning.
If you follow these 3 steps, you have my guarantee that social media and the internet will start becoming less of a problem in your life, and you’ll get a lot more work done.
