3 Ways How To Organize Your Reading List

My reading list from the stories I wanted to read during my holidays. But I didn’t read them, I stored them to read later.

So, now I am back from my holidays, I am reading all the work I saved. It is a lot. About 20 pieces here on Medium, about 10 pieces on Vocal, and a lot of articles on other websites.

I wanted to read so much during my holidays. But on the other hand, I have to relax during my holidays too. So, reading stories and articles were not part of it during the holidays (I had to relax for once). Working was not allowed. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up that rule. I worked on moments that nobody was still awake (I didn’t have to use my alarm clock, hihi), or in the evening.

So, how can I keep up reading what I have saved during my holidays? Here on Medium, you have the save button and the archive button. But on other websites, you barely have that function. You can bookmark your stories on your tab, but that function is so chaotic in my tab.

I use different apps to organize the stories I want to read. I use Notion, I use Journal, I also send articles to my own email to read it on a later moment. I use more apps on my laptop and on my phone, but it is so overwhelmed sometimes. I can’t choose which apps suits me best.

At the same time, you want to be organized for everything in your life. I know I have to be, but I am a very chaotic person who is not organized at all. So, I think it belongs to me. Yes, I could do something about it, but I also kind of like it this way.

How can I still organize all my reading lists systematically and start reading immediately after headed back from somewhere? And how can I not be overwhelmed with all the information I get and read?

Well, that is, of course, personal.

To me, it is to add a file on my computer, one of the apps I use and links to the articles I want to read, I will add to them. And, I know the woman I am, is that the next day, everything is not filed in order, but all articles are placed in all different kind of apps on my phone, e-mail, and laptop.

I hate that habit of mine, but I also have kind of a feeling that I can’t get it right. Or do I want to get it in order? Hmmm… Moment of self-reflection.

How can you file up all your favorite articles during your holidays to find it back after coming home?

Delete apps you no longer need and choose the one that fits your lifestyle

I am planning to delete some apps from my phone and laptop. I realized I have too many apps on my phone, just to be more productive. At least I thought I would be with all these apps.

Actually, it is not. You are only busy being together with the apps instead of being more productive.

Write down what you need and want from a productivity app for writers and reading other writers' stories. That helps you keep the one and only you need for being a productive writer.

Choose one that connects on all your devices, and you can synchronize all of your reading lists and other writing stuff.

Choose an app that synchronizes with your laptop and with your phone

Once you chosen your productivity app, you have to synchronize all your work with the devices you use for writing and reading other writers’ stories.

When you do this, it helps you being productive traveling to work, holidays, or wherever you are going to. Everything from your stories will be saved automatically and you can work on the other device where you left off.

Make a word document and link in all the articles you want to read

From now on I will make a word document with the linked stories I want to read and the one I have read. I mean, you want to store all the stories and articles you want to read, and you have read?! I do. So, I am going to make a new habit.
