3 Ways For Teens to Make Money During Quarantine
#3. Monetize your social media accounts.
Your parents just got furloughed from their jobs.
They wait patiently for a few months on their stimulus checks that still haven’t arrived. Meanwhile you’re still stuck at McDonald’s wondering how to support your family.
So you scramble quickly to find another job to bring in the bread only to realize that you’re working yourself to death.
Eight hours a day at McDonald’s during the week and ten hours at a movie theater over the weekend is way too much stress.
What do you do?
Well first off I hope you are getting enough rest.
But in all seriousness, here are some easy ways to make money during quarantine for teens.
1. Do some yard work.
Out of all the side hustles listed in this post, this is the most practical.
More than likely everyone’s family owns lawnmower. Or if you don’t have one of your own, kindly ask the people you are working for. People who need their grass cut will give up their lawnmower in a heartbeat.
There’s been a guy going around in my neighborhood mowing lawns for thirty bucks a pop. He did our lawn and I know he must have done about 2–3 other lawns besides mine. So that’s a good 60–90 bucks right there!
For most minimum wage jobs that pay around 8.25 per hour, you need to work at least seven hours to earn that kind of pay.
Doing yard work is a good avenue to make money because you only need a lawnmower and you only have to focus on the people in your neighborhood to make a decent wage.
2. Flip and Resell Items
Flipping by far is one of the quickest and most profitable ways to make money as a teen.
All you need for this is a smartphone. From there you need to make an eBay account and that’s it.
After you’re set up, find old items in your house. Whether its clothes, toys, shoes, etc, take these items and put them in a pile. Then get on eBay and look up every single item in the pile to see what it’s selling for (look on the “sold items” tab to see the market price). List it for that exact price and let it sell.
I’ve made a good amount of money last summer flipping shoes from Goodwill on eBay (p.s. shoes are great for flipping). There are a million people on YouTube who have made thousands a month flipping. It’s quite fun once you get good at it.
3. Monetize Your Social Media Accounts
We all know how profitable social media can be at this age.
Instagram Influencers, YouTubers, heck even Tik Tokers have one thing in common. They post like crazy on their platforms. It’s required to get sponsorship deals because all of that depends on how many followers they have.
The only downside is that this is one of the slower methods to make money, but if you work hard and you are consistent with your content, it could be a machine.
Judging from the people I follow on social media, they all have three things. An idea, a niche, and consistency. That’s all you need to be successful on any social media platform.
It may take a while, but it’s worth it.
Final Thoughts
Your entire world is probably shifted upside down now.
Not only do you have to cope with the effects of the pandemic, but you have to be the breadwinner for your family at such a young age.
Unexpected.
Money is of the essence right now so I hope these methods can be applied in any way possible.
