3 Things To Do and Know About COVID-19 Fatigue

Censor what information you see, listen to and accept as your truth — the power belongs to you, so use it wisely!

Tired

Lately, I have envied wild animals. Those creations walk as if they have nowhere to be in a hurry. Lick themselves like it was cooling ice cream on a humid day. Chew on grass like we do gum when away from Zoom meetings. Go in flocks, groups, pairs, or alone and be cool doing it. I swear, their courtship seems to get lucky compared to most of us. So yea, human beings do not have it as easy as the animals I described. Our fate: we are tired, exhausted, burnt out, and overworked as a society. That said, as much as we may not rewind our existence to what it may have been before modernity, industrialization, and the rest, we still may roll back on a few habits.

  1. Protect our bubbles

A funny way of describing a personal bubble would be to imagine yourself wearing a fully blown balloon over your head to your neck area. Some may push for whole-body coverage, and that is okay still. While covered, you appear isolated from the rest of us while expressing your preference for removing yourself from socializing with us. In short, there is a binary function to be heard from living a bubbled life, however temporary or long that may be.

It would be natural for us to insert the discussed bubble concept alongside Covid-19 life for we are even more exhausted and exploring coping mechanisms. In consideration of how to operate our bubbles, it may be beneficial to understand what triggers us to isolate this way in the first place.

As per a blog, https://www.yourtherapysource.com/blog1/2019/09/17/personal-space-bubble-what-is-it-and-why-does-it-matter/, “people, places and even things can influence your space bubble.” I agree with this thinking, particularly now as self-isolation has been believed to save us all from perishing from the global epidemic. Information gathered from The Government of Canada says “people with COVID-19 do not always recognize their early symptoms. Even if you do not have symptoms now, it is possible to transmit COVID-19 before you start showing symptoms or without ever developing symptoms.”

2. Censor what you hear

It would be natural for us to insert the times when unpacking this human capability, in line with being exhausted yet taking control of it.

If you may help it, reduce the anxiety triggers. Opt for generally uplifting information even in contemporary times. I understand that we do not have to be illiterate or in the dark about what’s happening. Yet, I advocate for taking in enough data to leave room for gathering positive vibes. Let’s call this the yin and yang.

What are your happy vibes? I am afraid this is a personal questionnaire. For some, positive music counts as happy pills. Or uplifting meditation music backgrounds, smooth jazz ballads, and or comedy. Post-reading that article about spiking Covid-19 related cases or the deaths from this illness or the stricter socialization regulations in your area, tune into what will balance your mood. Think of anything that used to make you happy from childhood, first love, or a first solo trip, and revisit those instances now will do the trick.

A quick google search assured me that “the yin-yang concept represents balance and harmony and suggests that everything in nature is composed of opposite but complementary elements. These opposing forces interconnect to create chi or the binding energy force in the cosmos. Too much of either one can be destructive, and finding their balance is essential for happiness and health.” Yay, we are on the right track, friends!

3. Set yourself up for success

While they are over-concerned with the end of the world, be working towards what feeds you, pays the rent, affords you traveling and leisure, and motivates you to remain positive and healthy. YouTube, Bloggers, Podcasts, and the like are not playing small during these lock-down times. As a direct result, many people get talents and are rolling back from delegating services to small businesses. This trend rewards former consumers with self-gratification for learning skills and saving time and money too. It shut many business startups. Remember, the theme is setting ourselves for success! So, instead of crying over spilled milk longer, how about we think beyond the box by investing time in learning newer ways to save our little resources with the mindset to grow our wealth.

As we speak, business minds conceptualized Covid-19 enterprises that make life easier while enriching themselves. Here are few ideas to kick start minding your business and get paid for it. 3.1) “At-home beauty and wellness alternatives are currently experiencing double-digit growth, a trend that will impact the beauty industry permanently,” https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/12/here-are-the-new-businesses-to-start-during-the-coronavirus-recession.html.

In other news, 3.2) “this may be obvious — video games and board games are providing all types of people with a welcome escape in lockdown. The Nintendo Switch is flying off the shelves, and the company currently can not make enough game consoles to meet the demand,” (Ibid). Our health and wellbeing have become an area of the business boom in the present day. No wonder 3.3) “most of the health-related news cycle revolves around obesity to coronavirus deaths, but also, educational content on how to not lose weight in lockdown. Searches for ‘weight loss’ have steadily increased the more time we’ve spent in quarantine, and the more fitness and health apps we download. According to Statista, we downloaded over 2.6 million home workout, no equipment apps in March of this year,” (Ibid).

Conclusion

I could go on to no end, but the picture is on the wall. Let us consciously absorb constructive news, block detrimental information, and strive for healthy lifestyles and bank balances today and onward. It is not over until it is! Rent needs payment, food is costly, and hydro won’t pay itself. Kindly get up, shake that Covid-19 fatigue off, transform your listening habits and be on your way to a productive life. You are worthy of all these good traits and take care of yourself while in your bubble.
