3 Things To Always Do In Good Faith
While you venture across the medium platform, in search of wonderous stories, and rabbit holes that at times are filled with opportunities of mining value, ideas, and friendship.
Writing has given me the utmost joy and passion to explore and improve myself on a greater level. During the pandemic, I believe I have experienced far greater battles but there was one thing that kept me going and that was writing on medium.
Whether I was experiencing hardships or I was going through personal struggles — I always stuck to my regiment of daily waking up and writing a poem, or perhaps a story to articulate myself, my thoughts, and vice versa.
About me, I wasn’t always an avid writer or a blogger. Sure I did blogging but that was more than a decade ago. I did write though, I write through social media apps and connected with people.
That was it for me then, I came across medium for the first time in 2014. Back then I used to write on sites like Reddit and Stackoverflow as a hobby. I used to run communities that would help each other troubleshoot issues related to tech and whatnot.
Though medium was still in its early stages, I gave it a go and did perhaps write something along the lines of how online gaming is beneficial, etc.. I left it shortly after. I wasn’t ready for it back then. I only wrote in phone memos, or through social media apps as my main purpose of ever writing was to connect with people.
I always was and still am fascinated with people. I have made genuine friendships across all prominent apps. And I have met a few as well, perhaps there are some that I would like to meet hopefully.
Medium is a place, perhaps something similar to a few apps that I have used in the past having a minimalistic design. But it gives away many leverages that those apps cannot.
I got tired of them, as most apps keep on transforming with time — quality users leave and it gets populated by spam and “shitposts.”
Though I am not much worried about them. There are still far better ways to connect with people and many platforms to use if you are willing to do so.
I believe medium has a great set of tools, plus the awesome policy that content will live on medium sounds good to me. A legacy perhaps of what I might leave behind. I recently read through one of my stumbling journeys into the rabbit holes of medium posts — I found a gem, his humor and sarcasm made me laugh with the utmost joy.
His topics though are underrated are something of what medium perhaps is all about. I randomly search topics in either google or on medium and read them. There are perhaps tons of useful information if you are persistent, you will find people who perhaps have left a legacy of work that is like a diamond in a coal mine.
There are many things that one can do to inspire others on medium and Without further ado, here are three things that you should always do in good faith on medium,
Claps are a way to show appreciation. But a single thought out reflecting response is worth a thousand claps.
When you read someone’s story, claps are awesome but reciprocation through a comment or a response counts even better. Claps are a way to show appreciation, just like highlighting.
Some people on medium willingly chose to write their hearts out, and if you read and pay a little bit of attention you can see that they are putting it all in.
Thus it is always a good gesture to put some effort into responses as reciprocity does wonders for someone. It can make someone’s day and motivate them to become something great. It is a nurturing sentiment as you the reader can give them a subtle push in the right direction.
Criticisms and judgments are part of the process that makes writing fun. Thus always be willing to go the extra mile to connect with the writer about your thoughts and opinions.
Notes are a way of communicating if you like a part and a way of passing a suggestion.
You can also leave subtle remarks by using notes as well. It also shows a reminder to the writer that you were here. If you have to discuss, things in a respectful manner, leave those notes to start a discussion.
Notes are also helpful if you have insight about something. Notes can be used to help that new writer or person. You can also set an example by being one. It shows writers, that their readers care as well.
Overall, it is a wonderous sentiment towards caregiving and fostering a friendship — a bridge where you can give far better feedback.
Open house prompts, and challenges to writers and readers alike.
I have been fairly a part of many writing challenges and prompts for over half a year now. I have challenged others to become a part as well, and even a few of my readers have also joined in the fray. It’s exciting, to say the least. It is an awesome feeling to become a part of a community, and at the end of the day, we all gain something to look forward to.
It’s like playing a game of tag, for writers. What usual prompts do is take people out of their comfort zone to write something awesome. It challenges them to become someone they never thought possible.
These challenges help them to gain insight into parts of themselves they never thought they had. It gives them the tenacity to accept newer changes in themselves and motivates them to write, write, and write their heart and soul into the concoction they brew for the other challengers to read and reflect upon.
For example, here is a prompt from to any reader reading this, you can write a haiku if you want to in the responses section. The topic is joy,
Comedian’s Wet Dream
poets and writers tug it out, guess who will win while comic enjoys
I hope you have an awesome time challenging each other. It not only helps make the community prosper but also helping you mine value for yourself as well. Gets you thinking, and then magic happens. Patiently waiting for what I will read next. Peace.
Thank you for reading.
